ALPS

Hi. This is only a suggestion but have any of you lot thought about going to the alps. I have been to pamps and bansko and they are not even close to the likes of chamonix or verbier. I know the attraction of bulgaria used to be because it was so cheap but now thats all gone why not stop watching the webcams preying for snow and book a cheap morning flight to geneva and be on the slopes by dinner time.

re: ALPS

Yup have done that many a time. It's funny really how Bulgaria gains a hold over you. I have been to the alps on many occasions but never really made any french/swiss friends whilst there. The boarding was fantastic except the last time I went to Courchevel when it had poor snow. I Went back to Bulgaria and can easily say that I have now met the nicest/genuine people ever and have gained friends for life! I have a holiday when i go there but even more, I have a fantastic experience ...

re: ALPS

Same here! I skied the alps over and over but even though Pamps has gone up in price it is still cheaper by far. OK, so maybe the quality and variety of runs are not the same but the French in particular are so arrogant.(and I love France) I've never experienced the same level of friendliness in the Alps like we received in Pamps last year.
And when we have skied in the Alps I've never felt inclined to partake in anything else after skiing (except drinking) where as in Pamps we did ...

re: ALPS

Only ever been to pamps so it holds a special place for me.
Giving Livigno a try next year as it looks the best alternative for price outside of Bulgaria.
Will let you know how it compares when we get back, price, slopes, people etc.

re: ALPS

Yeah its a very unpersonal holiday in the alps the times i have been.
Were as in bulgaria when the gondola was shut one day our instructer sorted us a minibus some drinks and lift passes and drove us to another resort without making a penny out of us, also took us into a local town to have a all you can eat and drink authentic meal for pennies.
Friend for life like missizzippi says.
Doing the season in bulgaria for that reason but still guna take a trip canada in jan.
