There will be a few teething problems for sure sam - there always is when a site goes through big changes, but hopefully they will be minimal and worth the inconvienience

I just changed my name from DaringRed to Whoosh and my post count was reset to 1. Is that the behaviour you expect?
Personally I'd disallow name changes because otherwise people will change it to have sock-puppets supporting them. |

OK - it's late and I have partaken in a wine or two - BUT - what is a 'sock puppet' ??
Also - if I think I understand the question correctly - name changes happened on the other style of forum and this is what is so good about this i.e. Mkey (yeah OK I am picking on him) or others - could use a name and it would be 'you'. That is the great thing about this new style - it gives you a 'protected' identity. For exampe I saw a 'Kim' had posted once, thus giving her some 1K plus postings when in fact she was a new poster. I am Kim and it was my 'number of postings' she picked up thru her name so - YES - if you choose a NEW name - even on the old style forum - it will not KNOW - that it is you and that you had posted many times before!!!
Does that make sense - I know what I mean!!
I like this new style and think it is well overdue - for exactly that reason - no way now can Mikey (or others) pretend to be posting as someone they are not!

Pamp' Pete, What I meant by post 166 is that on some forums some posters go as far as creating additional logins to voice support for their current argument. It's a very sad way for a person to make their opinion seem more valid by using 'sock-puppet' ID's to lend support. |

We are planning great changes to the site, for good. After the season is over we will start working on the website. Many new features are coming for the next season.

If Mikey wants to register then I will not prevent him. If Mikey want to add a BALANCED point of view to any subject then I will not delete it. Many of his posts have been sensible and valid and he has certainly added spice to the board.
It has been his personal attacks on certain people and his ridiculing of his own country that has caused the problems, but if he comes with us and his behaviour is OK then he will be welcomed.
