I have returned from Borovets for a week skiing and I am considering going to Bulgaria again as it is reasonably cheap.

I would like to see peoples opinions to whether I should go back to Borovets or go to Bansko or Pamporovo, taking into account how important it was for me, the location of hotels and amount and quality o pistes.

Thanks.

What are the pistes like in terms of length and difficulty. Is there some long runs?

For pistes bansko is in a different class compared to pamps. Don't go to pamps if you want long or difficult runs. Simple as that really.

And the runs are better than boros by some distance too.

There are a mixed selection of runs primarily its a family resort but there are some nice hard runs and some new 7k runs so if you want to carve the runs from top to bottom with racing turns you can get a burn goiing on the thighs with out any problem.
we go out of the bank holidays when the families are not around and the flights this year were 16.99 flight out and 29.00 return gatwick to sofia plus suit case on top 20.00
ski pass 110.00 hire car 4x4 for the week 390.00 with sat nav unlimited mileage, so we can drive to another resort if we want too and for getting to the clubs and restaurants etc for the apres ski.
the ski hut is right by the lift and we can leave skis and boots there so no carrying masses of kit around every day except when you want to put it on.
From what I can gather from the forum some of the other ski areas like Bansko may have bigger slopes but I have not been to them yet.
Maybe next year we will fly in to sofia spend a day skiing in bansko stay the night ( if anyone has any good places to stay please let me know) and then the next morning drive up to borovets and ski there for the day stay the night and then go on to pamporovo the next morning. again if any one has a place in borovets for four or so people to stay in for one night please let me know with a cost.
what would be good is if we could get 3 house owners who wanted to do a house swap for the week so we all stay in which ever ski area is closest to sofia for the first two nights drive on to the next area for the next two nights and stay in that persons house and then finish up in pamps for 3 nights in my house.
sounds like a plan who's in. that way no one owes any one any money for accommodation we all get to know what the other areas are like and we can take each other to the best areas that we know.
what an adventure probably best to do it over 10 days though.

By the way I also run a helmet camera company so i could bring some helmet cameras over for us all to use and get some great skiing footage of all the Bulgarian slopes we visit and houses al footage could be used for promotional videos if any one is interested. quite happy to give copy of the footage to all the house owners.

Any one who is interested in doing this please contact me and I can start arranging things.
probably want houses that can sleep at least 4 or if the trip grows 8 people my house sleeps 8 to 10 comfortably.

Hi Doitman,
send me your email address and Ill start to put everything together.

and welcome aboard

We need to get three other house owners one in each ski resort to take us to their favorite ski area for a couple of days and put us up for the night then they can come with us to the next resort to ski one of the other owners favorite areas for a couple of days again before moving on to the next ski area.
Finish up in Pamporovo at my place.

re headcams you can use one for free on the trip next year no probs.
if you want one this year the one i have been testing is the sgisport if you google it. its a pair of sunglasses with a camera built in. there are plenty more cameras on the market also.

best regards

markj
