Hi Been to Borrovets a couple of times and each year there was trouble with the Gondola (Too windy) Looking at the piste map for Bansko the Gondola looks like the only way to the top. Does this cause a problem ? Are the queues massive in the mornings ?

Large queues, at the weekend especially. However, it depends what time you get out of bed. The lifts start at about 08.15. We are generally in the boot room of the hotel at 08.10 (yes, even on holiday) and among the first in the queue. If you've had a heavy night, or just cant be bothered to get up, then yes, you'll hit queues.
Occasionally, the lift does stop for high wind. We have had one complete lost day, on each of our two last Winter holidays, due to this. So, bottom line, go early, or stay in bed till the queues have dispersed.

You can also drive. Mostly the queues are not so bad at the top. The ski road takes you all the way to the bottom but generally thaws after end Feb

We're a bit lazy and usually head to the gondola for around 10:00am. Queues ok by that time when we've gone and that includes one time during English holidays.

depends totally when during the year you go. If you go at xmas, new year, or half term holidays then there are queues.

Any other time there are not. Last year I went for two weeks, half duringhalf term and half not.

During half term there were queues, so we went up after 11. Before half termthere weren't any queues. FYI I don't have a property there

People, people, people...relax will you!

It is simple, you you want to avoid the queues then you need to accept that you will need to get up early and get the first few gondola's up the mountain and you will almost certainly enjoy a gondola all to yourself. Sleep in late and you will have to queue.

This is not rocket science and it is the same at every ski resort I have had the pleasure of visiting over the years.

PS - believe me, I do not have nor do I have any interest in buying a property in Bulgaria.

yes, there can be queues, especially between 9am and 10am as people try to get to their groups at Banderista Polyana. But there are options, the new road surface to Shilligarnika will enable easier access and the new road and bridge to the base of the Challin Valog chair to jump in on the gondola at mid-station though it has been rumoured that they will actually manage the base station to fill each gondola this season ?? By just doing this they will reduce the queuing by 30%......

Queues not so bad at the top, as the people are dispersed onto several chairlifts, travelling in different directions. Yes, you can ski all the way back to the bottom gondola station. This is also lit up at night, on a couple of nights during the week.
Again, it is busier at the weekends, so expect busy pistes (wouldn't you be there, if you lived locally?)
Anyhow, there's plenty of piste for everyone. Try the black Tomba run. Wont be too many people on that! Of course, there's ski guiding and heli-skiing. Lots to do, or you can believe the depressing drivel submitted by some people above. Who knows, maybe if it all goes to rats and prices go through the roof for a couple of seasons, it may price out the chavs and idiots complaining (but I doubt it).
