Christmas in Pamporovo

Can anyone give me some information on christmas day in pamporovo please. I am staying at the snejenka hotel over the christmas week in 2008. We are wondering what GALA dinner means, dress up or mega food. Has anyone stayed there for christmas? Thanks for any info. xxx

yes i have been there several times, the gala nite is the hotel doing its best with xmas,to be honest i go out to a local resturant on this nite done the gala a few times. to me its the worst meal of the week in the hotel i think because people are expecting a big xmas dinner but it is small and long winded.the rest of the week the food is excellent. and u will enjoy the hotel.
it is not dress up by any means ypou whole week is casual as u feel like dressing

I found the same thing for gala dinners, dissapointing and takes ages, when you get there ask the reps, they usually know all the special offers in the private restaurants some even do christmas dinnerx

Thank you so much for the info philipf and michelle, very helpfull, as we were all worried about the dress code thing, sounds like we'll be eating out then. There are 8 of us going of which 5 of us have stayed at the snejenka previously, we had a brilliant time, it was our first time skiing and we were lucky enough to have snow practically every day, we stayed for a week in february around 3 years ago. This is our first christmas away from immediate family as all the kiddies have grown and ...

There are 8 of us going of which 5 of us have stayed at the snejenka previously, we had a brilliant time, it was our first time skiing and we were lucky enough to have snow practically every day, we stayed for a week in february around 3 years ago. so trying to keep busy. There are 3 in our group that have never skied apart form dry slopes, i can't wait for them to experience pamporova. Do you know if there are snow machines in pamprova, i can't seem to find any info on that and am a bit worried on their behalf in case there is a lack of snow available for them. Have you ever been and not been able to ski due to no snow? If so what else did you get up to instead? Thanks for any more info you could supply xxx

stop panicking, i have spent about 6 xmas in bulgaria only been 1 year we did not have snow for the first two days,all other years whilst on some occasions it hasnt been brill snow but we skied.re: Christmas in Pamporovo

Hi CathyJust a note of interest for you - christmas eve is the big one in BG. Bulgarians celebrate this more the xmas day itself. Find a smaller traditional place and you will be treated to a vegeterian feast of 7 dishes that just keep coming!!!! No meat can be served until the clock strikes 12:00 and then the night goes on.
Spend time with the locals on this night and you will have friends for life and even become part of the family!
We may see you there over christmas too!

Hi CathyWe were in pamps last year at christmas we had 3 feet of snow fall on the 28th of december this topped up a good layer that had fallen previously so dont worry to mutch what will be will be, we arrive on boxing day and are there for 9 days we are in a group of 18 half of whom have never skied, keep the faith you will have a blast.

Thank for all your repies everybody, I'm def going to suggest to our party that we go out xmas eve and party So excited about being there over christmas. Our last day skiing is boxing day so am thinking about partying all night xmas eve and gving the slopes a miss xmas day to chill out and nurse the hangover so that i can make the most of our last day skiing on boxing day. Hiya CathyWe stayed at the snezhanka last Christmas. Christmas dinner was 7 courses the food was good and they had traditional bulgarian dancers and singers as the entertainment. Its up to you what you wear as there were guests dressed up and others just in jumpers and jeans.
