Man Utd and Chelsea have about 50% British, which is better than Arsenal, who only have Walcott and Clichy in the whole squad.

Think you will find that Clichy is French! Justin Hoyte is the other English player. However MU + Chelsea have only got English players cos they can afford to buy and pay the best players produced by other clubs - hardly any come through their youth teams.

Joff - think you may need to check how many Man Utd's squad have come through their academy.

Hi BG
Apart from one season 15 years ago when United were lucky enough to have 5-6 youngsters appear at once, by my reckoning they have had one player come through to consistently play (Wes Brown) since, the rest they have bought (Rooney £26m, Ferdinand £30m, Carrick, £18m, Hargreaves £18m etc). I am sure Arsene would have loved to be able to afford them!

You sound like a bitter Arsenal fan, like my son
Try Scholes, Giggs, Gary Neville (injured), Brown, O'Shea, Fletcher, Evans, Simpson, Welbeck ..... and the players Fergie has bought, that you mentioned above, are British.

So for a club that we are constantly told nurtures English talent, the sum total in the 15 years since 1993 that Ferguson has brought on is Brown, Evans, Simpson + Wellbeck - hardly the backbone of the team!
BTW - Extremely proud not bitter, on a fraction of the money MU, Chelski, Scouse moaners, Spurs etc have spent Arsene brought us within a whisker when everyone said we will be mid table - imagine where we would be if he had the money Ferguson has spent!

They do play some lovely football but felt they missed an inspirational captain this season. Would still like to see more British players in the squad, which would also add depth when the African Cup is played.

Just like yourself and many other british ppl we`d like to see more british players playing football.
Maybe either
a: they cost more in general
b: they are not good enough
or tho i expect its more like a
sadly aot of the players are only interested in the ££££££
for me this basically sums up football now, just look at the price of the tickets.especially if you take your kids along.Football has become to greedy.
