Murphys and the friendly are bar are reasonable. We found a lot of the traditional mehenas more expensive. to save money on the slopes take a backpack and take bottles of soft drink and things like chocolate and crisps up with you so much cheaper in the supermarket, soft drinks and chocs cost aroung 5 leve each on mountain 1leve or lower at supermarkets. Also shop around the supermarkets, the one near the Irish bar is cheaper than a lot of the others and does some really nice fresh bread.
I also take a small flask and put tea in it to drink on the mountain.

I am not tight but was in the same boat as you and wanted to have a good time on low budget, it can be done as long as you dont want to go out drinking till the early hours of the morning.

The Irish bar has a happy hour as well around 5ish where all local beers and wines are half price so about 75p a large beer. Dont know if your skiing with a ski school, but for lunch we found the friendly bar very reasonable its at the bottom of red 8 at shilligarnika.

have a good time and i am sure everything will work its self out.

Good advice Sam...
Will add that the Pirin Bistro and the Hadgi Georgie next door top of Pirin Street are very reasonable (well, cheap) local eateries... but the best must be the cave bar coming down the ski road...

re: Eating in Bansko

We found the Crown excellent, food good, service excellent.
We paid about £55 for five of us for 3 course meal plus at least a couple of drinks each.
Hope this helps

Hi,
I've just come back from a week in Bansko, we ate at the Diamonds Pub quite a lot. They do a great full english with a tea or coffee for about 10 lev and they gave us a 15% off voucher which we used all week. Also some of the restaurants in the old town are pretty cheap. If you want cheap drinks the Bash Bar is pretty good, according to our rep it is the cheapest place in Bankso, we had 2 beers and a JD & coke for 11 lev.
