PB - my suggestion would be to look at a studio in the Rila Hotel. With children of those ages, it is ideal. There are bunk beds and two beds for adults plus a convertible chair. Basic cooking facilities plus fridge.

I like the Rila as the main slope, that is floodlight at night, literally right outside, where the children will want to ski and play. The kindergarten is in the Rila, as is the ski depot. You can take skis and boots up to room, if you want. It has a nice swimming pool, free for guests.

Breakfast is good choice, although evening meal is hit and miss for children. They cook fresh pizza, which most children go for.

At those ages, they may not be able to do ski school, so you could consider booking private tuition, to get them going. Kindergarten has an English grandmother working there called Elaine. They come out am and pm to ski on the drag lift outside the Rila.

Worth considering
Very Happy

in the samokov they would need two rooms, so a studio may be the way to go. The ages shouldnt stop them being in ski school, we had 5 yr olds this year, just remember they wont need a ski pass so dont be conned into buying one by the tour company Wink

He is going with a party of several people from the school where we work so would really like to stay at the same hotel as the rest of the party. He is an experienced skier although this is the first time he's taken the kiddies. Any more ideas, advice etc I will pass on to him. Thanks. Very Happy

Thanks dbut . . . . I think they're already booked for the week he's going. The party is now looking at the Rila Hotel, any feedback would be appreciated. I can't help him at all being from the warm site but knew you would help over here. Thanks. Very Happy

The Flora is closer to the Samokov and also has apartments and will be cheaper than the Rila.

The Ela which is directly opposite the Samakov also has rooms for four people and has good reports and is reasonably priced. I have booked for there this year via Inghams and got a good early bird deal.

PB - if it is a large group with children, the Rila could be ideal. The swimming pool is considered the best in Boro plus it's position is good for apres, especially for children. I always book a front room so I can sit on the balcony and watch the action/views. Some people prefer rooms overlooking the back as it is quieter. Ski School meets right outside and it is easy to meet up at the end of the day on the main slope outside.

In the evening the slope is floodlight for skiing and toboggoning, a family area.

There is a large lobby/bar with cable TV. Great to meet up in but drinks are a bit pricey, so you may not want to drink too much there. Don't need to buy to sit there. There's a games room for children, shops and a ceramic painting area that goes down well with my youngest.

It is very large but rooms are clean and warm with good bathrooms. Cleaners come in every day and are excellent - clear up messy rooms, usually with little humorous touches Very Happy
