We returned on saturday from Les Menuires in the 3v, i will try to cover everything.
We flew from stansted with Titan airways(booked through snowjet) 10 people in fromt of us at check in which makes a nice change, once we got there a few of our bags were over the 20kg limit even had one at 26kg absolutely no mention of any excess baggage charges which i was surprised at,the flight to Chambery took 1 hour 20 minutes and we were in and out of the airport in 30 minutes once the minibus driver had found us, It was about a 90 minute run to the resort which had some spectacular views of the mountains all the way there and some very tight mountain roads to get up.
Arrived at our chalet unloaded had some food and a soak in the hot tub and went to bed.
Sunday we had a ski hosting day in which we were shown most of the runs in the local area, the amount of runs were amazing, everywhere you looked there was a different place to go and chair lifts as far as you could see, we must have done 30 k's of skiing that day not doing the same run twice.
On monday we went up to Val Thorens and had a play up there for a while but didnt do that much as me and my girlfriend were skied out from the day before.
Didnt use a drag lift all week only saw 2, i had'nt seen 6 man chair's before either and was surprised how quick they were, it warmed up towards the end of the week so lower down was a bit heavy going but fine up top, also we found a skiier cross course that we went down a few times which was good fun,the rest of the week was spent mucking about on red and blue runs
As we were in a catered chalet we didnt have much for lunch, usually a bowl of Nachos that we shared they cost 7 euros, dinner every night was 3 courses the food was some of the best that i had had probably due to him being a chef by trade, with as much wine as you could drink.
We had 3 excellent holidays in Borovets but i don't think we will be back for the forseeable future after going where we did even the prices in the restaurants were quite reasonable and the lift system was very efficient they even slow it down just as you get off to avoid accidents, something borosport never did with the rila chair. the lift pass cost me £158 this covered Les menuires and Val Thorens i think this was 150k of runs with as much off piste as you wanted.
We found it wasn't as expensive as people made out and totally lived to what people say about it, we are definitely going back next year as we didn't do half of all the runs.
That's it sorry if it's a bit vague

How did you find the slope steepness, were the red and blue similar to Bulgarian slopes for difficulty, and did you use a ski school?

Some slopes were very steep for example a red was almost black in places but not in others but the blues were always nice and easy in fact we found a blue that went back to resort that was over a mile long, that was nice, didnt use a ski school as it was our 4th ski trip,
Debbie, yes had a brilliant time thank you chalet price was £400 each, worth it just for the food and hot tub alone i think it would be difficult to go back to a hotel after the fantastic service we all recieved

ah val thorens, what a place.
FYI you were in the three valleys, connecting val thorens/les menuires, meribel and courcheval. it is the biggest ski area in the world, 600km of slopes all so well connected. Unfortunately you have to pay for it, i think a lift pass for whole area is 270euro, but val thorens and les menuires is so big it'd keep you entertained for more than a week. Sounds like you got a good price also.

We got an excellent price when we were at the ski show they did it for £279 each(400 is the usual price) you could spend a month there and not do all the runs in the VT and les menuires sector, i didn't find the food prices too bad, the only tip i think i would give is to cover up when the suns out or plenty of factor 50 as we all got fryed on the first day, ive never been so burnt on a holiday, apart from that there was no bad points.

i'm pretty sure it was just this year they banned smoking inside. i was there in january and it was quite amusing to see people outside pubs and rstaurants in the most freezing weather smoking. In previous years it would have been like bulgaria, you could smoke inside but thisi s no longer the case

We have just got back from Les menuires flew exactly the same were probably the ones in front of you at the check in
Ski AMIS were the best ever catered Chalet and the service just fantastic.
Over the past years we have been to Bulgaria but Im afraid thats its60 km of runs to 600km of runs does not compare.
We had ski hosting in france for two days and I have never skied so much and not seen the same thing twice.
The weather through the week was as described above and it has improved since lower slopes hardening up slightly.
On thwe last day there was a little rain at 1850mtr but my daughter and I went to the top.
Bliss only saw 6/10 other skiers and the runs were like iceing sugar a skiers paradise.
France we will be back next year and Bulgaria Im sorry but thats it!!.
Cost France £700 for the week flights catered chalet and transfers, Hot tubs and saunas spent 200 euros during the week all in all great value pound for pound to facilities cheaper
Flights outstanding no hidden charges for skis or baggage
Skis were free to take TItan airways snowjet.

just Portes du Soleil is with few more kilometers but that is not really important when you have hundreds and hundreds of pistes to cover.
few more or less is not an issue with this size
