Hi Karen
Yes, me and a friend did the journey last October, went over on Euro Tunnel, drove across France to Switzerland, stayed in Geneva over night. Then followed lake Geneva out towards the Alps, drove over the Alps in to Italy, stopped of at Lake Garda, then continued down to Venice, picked up a ferry to Greece, then drove to Bansko, would highly recommend it, the journey was fantastic. We obtained the rout from route finder on the internet If you need any help just email me.

Fantastic, ive called the van hire co - they reckon it will be around £450 for 14 days. yes i checked with the rac and came up with your route. next question is how much do you think roughly it will be fuel wise there and back?? coz i have been quoted £1,300 to have it shipped which i understand is not much of an adventure, but i will be doing it by myself !! thanks for answering - appreciated. i would do the drive but without all the furniture, probably when i bring the dog - Stan

Hi Karen
It all depends on which rout you take, but if you budget around 300Euro's each way that should cover it. If you do choose to drive across Greece the ferry crossing takes about 27hours and the cost depending on the time you travel is around 380Euro's. That doesn't include a bunk. You also need to consider overnight accommodation which is around 80Euro's a night and includes secure parking if you are carrying valuables. The journey is certainly worth the expense though i would suggest you take a friend to share the driving has you will need to drive about ten hours a day to achieve the round trip in fourteen days.

Why dont you try Hungry, Serbia, bulgaria. Good road all the way. We did this recently and missed many tolls that you get going craotia, slovenia etc etc

I appreciate the concern which is been rose. The things need to be
sorted out because it is about the individual but it can be with
everyone.
