Author : Steve C (85.118.193.---) posts : 2372 Date : 06-08-09 18:50 Hi Eric..
I have my own bike here, a Giant Terrago, and have ridden a lot of the trails and visited areas near to us here in Bansko. I will be entering the comp posted, be it only for a bit of fun, and thought it might be of interest to the forum.
If the meaning of your post was to enquire about bringing over a bike on a flight, it is possible as excess and used to be treated like carrying a pair of skis. You will need a proper bike bag, but outside that just contact your airline, they will quote. Failing that, you can hire one from me...

Wendy here Steves girlfriend.
Email me and Steve at mtb.hire@yahoo.com and we can reserve a couple of bikes for you for that day.
"Downhill only" - we have our vans set up to carry bikes and riders so we can drop you up the mountain to the restaurant at bunderista from there you can have a meal and a drink if you wish and then ride back down the mountain. Its about 14km in all but as downhill all the way should be no prob's.
Cheers,
Wendy

Author : Steve C (85.118.193.---) posts : 2372 Date : 07-08-09 10:04 In our own small way Ian...
We have a batch of Diamondback Responses, with more on the way. All machines supplied with helmet, full tool kit including pump and tube and a lock and key...
We thought that there might be a market for decent mtb's, the area ia an oasis for the euthusiast, but even for those who don't want to peddle up hill or want to explore an area away from Bansko we can supply transport for 7 bikes and 7 riders to take the strain
We are hopeful and will make every effort to try to establish Bansko as a mtb destination, the comp in its small way is attracting riders from clubs in Sofia, and its rumoured that the `Drag' factory team will ride, and be supported by their mechanics, who will also be providing service (no parts) to other competitors
We already supply service for our own machines and for those we have retailed here (09 Diamondback Response £375.00.. rrp £469.00) and again want to build this side of the business. We have a workshop already set up with three service stands, specialist tools, some spares, and a jet washer
We are also investigating the supply of mtb gear, shirts, pants, shoes, gloves etc and the more specialist downhill gear including armour and helmets.
Ok, its a business, and this is blatent advertising, but i love mountainbiking, we have good contact for guides but im as likely to be out there myself... (a note on my bike, worn out my forks after a year of bashing new ones on the way ). The future ??, it would be great to have a base in Pirin Street, to promote mtb in Bansko, to be able to supply top line machines and gear, to service and tune, and to maybe set up a club here in Bansko, to provide more events of all levels, and maybe attract much larger events (mtb world cup ??) or even an X Games event... we have the mountains and the accomadation, its just about the cheapest place to stay in Europe, our summers are georgous, the people friendly and the beer cold
We would need to get the municipality on side as well as the national park, but you have to start somewhere...
Anyway, enough rambling.... In answer to your question Ian, yes, we do.... mtb.hire@yahoo.com | | | Reply to this message |
