Hi Noodles

Moura is absolutely fine and one of the better 'cheap hotels'. It's in a very good location and rooms are pretty big. Food isn't amazing but I am sure you will find something you can eat!

Similarily to lots of hotels here, they don't have kettles in rooms, so you will need to bring one with you!

Yup, stayed there a couple of years back in a ground floor room with a terrace.

It's a bit back from the road, and the steps out front can get slippy, but I'm just picking hairs, it's a great wee place on a budget, and the rooms are, dare I say it, nicer than the Samokov.

You will be fine, so long as you're a heavy smoker. All the staff chain smoke day and night. Add to it the locals who often pop into the bar or reception area during the day to chat with the staff...oh and of course being a cheap place attracting all manner of chavs who by their very nature habitually smoke and you get the picture. You can of course avoid the bar area but you have to walk through reception / bar to get to the dining room so it cant really be avoided. Oh and it will probably waft into the dining room anyway. Also if you want wifi you can only get it in reception bar area. Oh and you're room will probably stink of stale smoke in any case. Yea I guess if you're determined to die of cancer, this is the hotel for you !

Hi Noodles, I'm booked there on 18th staying on my own also, because I just couldn't say no to a good deal! I've stayed in the Bor previously which also had the aroma Hibs refers to, and it was a bit of a shock at first but spent so much time out in the open air and in town that it didn't spoil my holiday! Damn those locals coming in , who do they think they are? ;-) Intend to eat/drink out most nights so won't be at hotel much. Join you for breakfast (if you can see me through the smoke) if you decide to come! Caz

£454 Half Board ( usually eat something at the hotel even if not a full meal) - including full ski pack - Niellson from Bristol. Considering flight prices have gone up a lot this year I was quite pleased with this!

Hey Noodles.
Me and my partner Tracey stayed at the Moura last week and it was fine. I've added a review on it on TripAdvisor if you want to check this out, under my other psudonym of ShredDude (Yes I am one for whom standing sideways is the only way to go).
IMO I think the other comments regarding smoking / cancer are a bit harsh and in poor taste and I agree with Caz - those damn Bulgarians, spoiling our fun by being around the resort ! How very dare they ! Very Happy

Rickers, I think you miss understood my post. My comment regards the locals coming in. To make it clearer, what I meant was that the locals come into the hotel to socialise with the staff and smoke. Regards smoking/cancer being poor taste, what planet are you living on ? Smoking gives people cancer, as does secondary smoking. end of !

Last year we stayed in the Rila and I can assure you that the bar there is smoke free and not a thick fog of smoke. I have just taken a look at trip advisor and can see other people are finding the smoking a big problem at this place. You're quite entitled to you opinion, but I think to try to make light of the situation is no joke.
