Can anyone tell me what the samokov hotel is like in Borovets. Stopped at the iglika last time, but found the rooms rather small.
Looking to find out what the rooms are like and the food.
thank you. Brian.

we did, thats why we are married to each other, i resent the question with my wifes name in case she got a better response, seeing as she is female and therefore people are more likly to reply, but hey guess what no one could be bothered to reply to either of us, well except one smart arse. Brian

I'm struggling to get my head around how putting exactly the same post in the same thread with a woman's name would elicit a better response, but I this part of the site is largely deserted at this time of year so you might have to wait a day or two.

Yes, i shouldnt have put it up in a same thread, i should have reworded it and put it on a new thread with my wifes name, and seen if i get a better response, but there you go, we've decided not to go to the samokov now and will be going to the rila instead.

Brian

May not be much help but the board is very quiet at this time of the year, which is why you possibly havent had a very good reponse. Post again in september when the volume of posters starts to pick up and there may be people who can answer your question. If you need to book before you may just have to take a chance on another hotel.

Brian, The 'superior' rooms at the Iglika are bigger, newer and the best in the hotel. If you found your room on the small side perhaps you weren't in the new wing on the right hand side of reception. The online tour operators in the last few years ran offers of 'free' upgrades to the 'superior' rooms so may do so again for next season.

Regarding the food, for what it's worth the Iglika tends to get more positive comments than the Samokov on this site.

Hi Brian and Sheryl,

I've stayed at both the Rila and Samokov and have to say there really isn't a huge differance between them.

Personally i prefer the Rila.. its position, breakfast better and restaurant not as dark! Pool warmer!

The beds were better in Samokov and the walls weren't quite as thin as the Rila! I did prefer the bar at Samokov too, but at the prices they charge how often do you drink there?

Hope this helps

Amanda

Pool coolish like!- bowling alley and games roon, pool and machines upstairs- clean and best bit- Samokov ski school in basement- ideal!

No, trying to be funny actually. You know, having a laugh! Trying to lighten the mood on this forum which recently seems to be full of depressives! Nothing more, nothing less.

Hi Have stayed at the Samokov a few times, the food is ok, its very big but has reasonable facillities, the staff are friendly. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable, they look a little dated but thats more the decor than the quality (Brown and green). I am going again for New Year 09-10 so it must be ok. The posistion to the Gondola is the main reason we go back again.
