When Does the Bansko Ski season open this winter?

Hello, going out to bansko on the 13th december to the 18th december, just wandering if the resort will have been officialy opened for the 2010/2011 ski season and also what will the ski copnditions be like at this time of year? Thanks

Hi Reuel, not sure exactly what date the official opening for 2010/2011 season is, I expect one of the Bansko residents will post on this. As for conditions, it can be risky very early, however Bansko has by far the best snowmaking in Bulgaria so as long as its cold enough they can make snow. I wouldnt expect all the pistes and lifts to be open right at the start of the season, they will open up as conditions and the amount of punters increases.

Normally the 2nd weekend in December, though 2 years ago they opened on the 1st Dec..
As long as temps are low through Nov they will make snow, and now with the extent of the cannon network covering virtually the whole mountain we definately will have snow..

Unless we have fantastic falls of snow prior then no!! Maybe just the ones where snow cannons have been able to work. But also Ulen will not open all lifts for a few tourists maybe gondola and the chairs at top of gondola so that some runs are available...
