beer

How much is a pint of beer in Borovets these days? Not been for several years. Are the Happy Duck and the really good Chinese restaurant near the Samokov still there?

If you have not been for a few years then you will last remember 2.96 lev :£1 this is now well under 2.20lev : £1 so even assuming the price they charge for been hasnt changed in levs then the sterling hit you will face will be an increase of 35% i.e. say you bought a beer for 1.50lev that would have cost £0.51 per pint.... but today due to the exchange rate alone this same 1.5lev pint will cost you £0.68 and we all know globally there has been high inflation due to oil etc...

Still when I went out to bansko a little over a week ago it was 1.60lev a beer in most bars - and the cheapest places were 0.8 lev.

Yes but the season menus will be out around 15.12. after students day, the most bars and restaurants which are working only in winter will open and these onmes who are runned all over the year change the menus and prices normally are doubled in the resorts.

re: beer

4-5 lev is around the going rate for a pint when i was in bansko and borovets last year.
£2 a pint is still cheaper then what we have at home but compared to the price outside the resorts it is a massive mark up. Not enough to keep me of the booze though.

So lets have a look what happend this year I bet I will pay in the hotel i stay in Samokov the beer is under 1,50...
