I think the majority will be cautious and hold back a bit, atleast until after Xmas. There will be the exceptions as above, but the good times are certainly over

Not a chance... Egypt for 9 days scuba this Sunday. Chamonix over christmas. Chamonix in January, South Tyrol in Feb. Boys snowbaoard weekend in March and TBA early April. It's what I save all (well half of) the year for!. Helps having a mate with a place in the french alps and an Austrian godmother though... Roll on the winter (of discontent?!?).....

Borovets booked for Feb, weighing up summer hols in Italy - think the people who are being most hit are those that were possible living more beyond their means than others? And if you are stretching yourself to pay a huge mortgage, higher than you really feel comfortable with, the chances are you wouldn't be on hols anyway - that's my view anyway, beat me up if you like!!
Although I wish petrol would come down just a few pence at least.....

In some ways the credit crunch might boost tourism in Bulgaira.
Clearly it is a much cheaper holiday all round and even if it honly has 65km in Bansko you can still have lots of skiing fun.
I'd imagine the bigger resorts/more expensive will suffer.
Just like in Tesco rather than buying tesco finest you buy tesco std or tesco basic. (equating the quality difference to the number of runs).

Hi Andy
Anywhere you can recommend in Italy? We've been weighing up around the Amalfi area near Naples but would be interested to hear if you know of anywhere in the North.

Ok, so I kind of regret moving my ISA to ICEsave but I have booked the next 5 holidays.Oct half term, Tenerife, New year Pamps, May half term, Coniston, July, Spain and August Coniston. crunch crunch crunch.
There\\\'s nothing worth investing in at the mo - may as well spend it and enjoy it! Better than keeping it under the mattress!

Life's too short ... Tunnisia in 2 weeks, Deux Alps for New Year, Pamps - Feb half term, Egypt - Easter and again October half term 2009.
Hanging on for August as might have new grandchild due round about then, and if so will need to be home... but if not ... possibly Mexico?
You can't take it with you and we spent a lot of years scrimping and getting by on next to nothing. It's payback time ...

I'm "wait and see"; I don't want to get stuck in Bulgaria if, all of a sudden, crazy things happen with airlines or something. I do, however, think things will get a lot more sane in a month or so. I'm still looking to go in late Feb.

If your that worried fly Easy Jet. Their passanger numbers are up 20% on last year and are doing well financially. In other words there's no chance of them going under.

There are some good deals still to have but they take a bit of hunting out

dont think itis worth holding out, all the tour operators r reducing the number of flights operated and plane sharing to make money.

Ok FRaseR..
It is truly a hell hole, No beer, No bacon but on the positive side No Tax, Petrol cheapest in the world, Well paid, 60 days holiday a year plus any extra the king gives you, which was 4 days this year, Free housing, No bills to pay, 365 days sunshine and with the pound dropping against the dollar i get a lot more money when i send it to the Isle of Man.
So maybe not that bad after all

Sam,
Jeddah is just scruffy in many areas, But it has a beech and is alot more relaxed than Riyadh where i am.
Id say give it a go its worth it for the experience. Ive been over here 2 years now so you do get used to it.
The oppertunity for travel while over here is great, Bahrain, Oman, Dubai, Qatar and Eygpt are all 90 minutes away so good for weekend trips.
Sharm El Sheikh is a 50 minute flight from Jeddah.
