Planning next years visit. Has anyone stayed at the Vihren Palace yet? If so, would you recommend it? Any reviews welcome.

Vihren Palace in Bansko ?? if so, its good, great position, great facilities, lovely looking building, nice rooms, smart reception, nice staff...... great backhander

Steves right, you wont go far wrong with the Vihren Palace, I stayed there this Jan and was quite happy.
Briefly it is a 4 star and much the same as many of the other 4 stars in Bansko, I would say though that the "Palace" may be pushing it a bit.
I found the staff polite and helpfull, most of them able to give the occasional smile, the food is similar to all the other hotel buffets, however on some nights dinner is in the Mehana under the hotel, on one occasion it was al a ...

Rooms are about right for a 4 star, comfortable, but not opulent!, clean and with modern bathrooms, they do have the advantage of individual room heating controls.
There is a good spa including a pool and fitness room.
Location is a few minutes walk across the car park from the gondola.
A further advantage is the hotel bus goes to the gondola top station in the mornings which is a godsend when there are long queues for the gondola.
Would I reccomend it, I am always reluctant to reccomend to anyone as we all have different expectations, but if you need confirmation, I have already booked for the 3rd week in Jan 2011 for the same hotel, i suppose that is a sort of reccomendation!!
