Does anybody know if the opening of the new Lyulin highway will make the journey to Bansko any easier/quicker. Looking at its position it looks like you will have to travel through Sofia to join it. It is on the opposite side to the present ring road.
The Ljulin motorway is an extension of the existing E79 carriageway, crossing the main Pernik highway, climbing the valley, eventually joining the outer ringroad on-route to the Serbian border. Concievably it will be possible to access the airport from the back through the gypsy quarter effectively bypassing Sofia completely. The possible time saving could be as much as an hour, bringing the average transfer time down to under two hours...

The pace at which the road contractors are moving is amazing, it would be good if UK contractors could take a leaf out of their books.. To be ready for the winter will be unlikely, possible, but unlikely, but should definately be ready for the following season... Good news eh ???
