Hi everyone

My son would nneds 2 old snowboards (payment upto £10 for each) to recycle to make a seat for his GCSE tech project. They don't need to be in good condition as obviously not going to use them for boarding.

Will collect from the York/Leeds area.

Please can you let anyone who snowboards know.

Thanks a lot
Very Happy

I know of two old snowboarders ??, house trained (honest Cool) and will only bite if you mention hair cuts, or attempt to move them when they are comfy (normally the nearest girlie bar Wink)

unfortunately they might not like being left out in the rain, or not fed & watered, etc.
Also not too sure how comfy they would be.

Thanks anyway

They definately would not want to be `watered' and as for being uncomfortable ??? they are used to it, they snowboard Very Happy

More seriously, i have a friend who works for the ski hire here in Bansko, but won't know till season starts Dec 1st.
Other options could be e-bay or local ski slopes but snowboards are durable things and short of edges being ripped out or delaminating and breaking are normally repairable. Good luck in your search Booze

Have you asked Snowdome etc if they have any damaged ones, to save them on their disposal costs? Or maybe any distributers/ shop damaged ones?

Well with the waste recycling targets, WEEE directive and land fill taxes on industries I have no idea... but they must have to be disposed off somehow and that will be in accordance with local directives. Depends on what they are made of; but if they contain PE at all then it would be plastic, or specialised due to coatings.... Ask me one on REACH

Apparently the snowboards are made of fibreglass, so they are counted as special waste, and therefore have a high disposal cost. Definately worth seeing if there is a business that is dispossing of them. x

Excuse the spelling/typing have a serious hangover. Booze Not clever on a Monday. Very Happy

Thanks for that Tufty-Duck! We've been away for the weekend to Center Parcs. Good idea re contacting makers. I went in a shop in york & he said exactly the same thing so Chris (son) is going to get onto it this week to see what they say.

Thanks
