Author : Kas (109.160.79.---) posts : 601 Date : 02-06-10 17:51 Hi Mikey J
Passports must be valid for 3 months beyond period of intended stay - so for your son, his passport needed to be valid up until at least 20th May if you are leaving on the 20th Feb.
Sorry, that's probably not what you wanted to hear, but the positive news is that a. you realised in time rather than en route to the airport (!) and b. it is still snowing!!
See you next week!

Author : mikey j (---.watf.cable.ntl.com) posts : 22 Date : 02-08-10 07:35 I would recomend that you contact the Romanian Embassy Normally three months but some countrys have the 6 month rule.
We are calling the Bulgarian Embassy today at 1300 (when it opens) so will keep you posted.
Weather here dry no snow but we are in Hertfordshire.
have a good one |

Author : don (212.183.140.---) posts : 298 Date : 02-08-10 19:47 As Bulgaria is now part of the EU, the 3 or 6 month validity rule is, technically not legal under EU law, but might be best to check with the Bulgarian embassy just the same. |

Author : mikey j (---.watf.cable.ntl.com) posts : 22 Date : 02-08-10 20:18 We spoke to Consulate (Bulgaria) and a lady rather frosily told us that the 3 month rule applied.
My Wife rang again spoke to a male who said no problem and has sent us a covering letter and his title was the head of the Consulate. RESULT get in there.
Very pleased that red tape was cut. He had been a ski instructor at Borovets, He also said that the snow was perfect today powdery.
Hope you get a result, but do insist on a reply in writing. |

Author : Kas (109.160.79.---) posts : 601 Date : 02-08-10 20:22 Well done!! I think that if you had no written consent they may have stuck by the 3 month rule on arrival here so really glad you got it sorted....
Have fun when you get here! |
