What level of skiing are you at currently and do you see yourself pushing yourself and progressing further with your skiing??
The trick is to buy a pair of ski's that would be good for your current level of skiing plus allowing you room to further develop your skill level without being defficient at either level.
If you are currently a good intermediate to advanced skier than I can definitely recommend the K2 Apache Recons as they have superb stability whilst doing high speed turns on piste but can also hold their own in the powder and crud that you find on the off-pister terrain.

hi ive skied the salomon x wing tornados at the snowdome they are very good for short shap turns and a lot of fun on the down side a bit soft at the tip i personally would recomend trying the K2 crossfires really good for carving turns and the latest model has a sidewall for extra grip on hard/ice. hope this helps

i'm planning to buy either Rossignol Radical 9S or Salomon Equipe 3V's. I know someone who works for Ellis Brigham who was away on their test 'holiday' and said the Fischer Progressor 8+ is an amazing ski. I'm going to demo them before i buy one of the above

really depends on what you want to do with them and what you skill level is. I've just bought some Rossignol Bandit B78s because I want an all mountain ski that is also stable at speed for an expert/upper intermediate level. If you want to be doing, for example, primarily high speed on piste carving, you'll need more of a race ski. of course, now I just need some snow to test them.....

I was looking for a pair that will do both on Pieste and a little off pieste fun in the powder,i'm doing both reds and blacks but being 6'3 and 16 and a half stone i find i tend to lose my skis in the soft stuff, also thought a wider ski may make me a tad more stable on the pieste...

wide ski for powder. stiff ski for stability on the piste (if you have problems with flex at speed, especially being lardy).

Have you bought yet tim? Agree with wider ski, shorter and much wider for your build! Then you need to put a second binding on it and use a comfier pair of boots. You can still call it skiing if it makes you feel better but you will get down the mountain much better, cooler, having more fun and no need for those silly sticks

Oooooooooo bob, bob, bob........ Don`t even start to head Tiger down that road. He is at the moment just a danger to himself but at least in his wide snowplough he has just enough control to stay upright
Place him on a tray and there is no mountain big enough where everyone will be safe, and the bombholes created everytime he falls will make so much work for the pisteurs
Sorry mate (Tiger), couldn`t resist

@ Fraser and Sarah, please don't think or buying those gimmicky Rossignol Mutix things. Mumbo jumbo claptrap rubbish. Not worth it. You'll buy the skis, and the additional arms, and not use them. It's bound to happen.
