I'm a little worried, me and my mate have booked a holiday to bansko and i'm reading about people rippping you off for drinks and passports and money going missing and a reem of other stories!
You are also extremely likely to be sold into slavery so be sure to say goodbye to your family as you'll wake up with a headache and a new 'best friend'.
Shelley,
No you shouldnt be worried.
Have been to Bansko 5 times and have never had a problem.
As with all resorts, ski or otherwise, take care of your money and other valuables, do not carry too much cash at one time, you can draw cash at cash machines as you require it just like at home, tell your bank youre going.
Some people have reported being ripped of by resteraunts when booked by ski instructor, I have never come across this, I think most bulgarians are honest and freindly, dont ...

Remember what crime is like at home, it is certainly no worse in Bansko and if anything seems more orderly at night in the town than the average British town.
Am sure you will have a good time, enjoy!!
I would be interested where you had read that such things happen here..
We live here and consider it one of the safest places and virtually crime free... Cannot comment on being ripped off for drinks, as we know where to go, and where not to go..
Through this rough weather we have left both our buses unlocked so as not to suffer from frozen locks, do you think we could have even considered this in the UK ??
