2014 Improvements for the upcoming winter season? Bansko

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone has heard about improvements which are currently happening or going to be happening to Bansko for this winters ski season?

Last year it turned out to be no change at all - I wonder if the run on the major Bulgarian Banks will cause problems for any development?

I cant see Ulen investing much more in bansko in the near future. Unless they do something about the ques at peak season on that gondola the mountain really will not attract much more! Its the reason i stopped going, just stressful getting up the mountain and really cannot be arsed with it lol

Only thing we have seen is replacement of the gondola wire and the knocking dfown of part of the main restaurant at the gondola. I would imagine to update it. The gondola has not run all summer and the top of the gondola has had no restaurants etc etc open at all. Infact you cannot even drive down to the gondola. We have heard nothing about anything else going on except continual drainage and pipe works earlier in year around shilli again. This is just work continuing from previous though.

What I really do not understand is why dont they share the long term vision - lets say its x2/x3 the skiable area or to properly open up the other moutain which has a run on it but never used.

The issues seem to always be how long the wait is to get up - however it is literally a handful of days all season.... simple solution open the lifts say at 6am on those days the overtime will not be of any significance. The upsides more people up the slopes/less negative press possibly more food & ...

The upsides more people up the slopes/less negative press possibly more food & drink sales from people having breakfast up the mountain.
Downsides? bit of overtime and having to actually organise/advertise.

The other key thing is to ensure that all runs can be running all season - so if Red 12 doesn't have snow cannons buy them, instantly your increasing the capacity of the existing mountain, in addition to not overusing the other runs to deteriorate the base.

Increasing the opening house even if its by 30 mins would make a notable difference an hour even better, snow cannons instantly gain another good red run.

Next sort out the red on the other mountain - anti avalanche has been installed ... if you are not planning on fixing the run what a waste.

The thought of adding in a new Gondela is madness - the existing demand simply doesnt require it. If the c4-6 days out of a season turned into 50%++ of the season then there is a strong arguement.
Adding capacity on the slopes is key IF they could double the length over a 5 year period that would be a great outcome.

Sadly we have seen little if any change now in what 3+ years, it will soon be repairs of existing kit rather than expansion.
