Bansko Shiligarnika Lift Replacement

So received an email from BanskoBlog...

'Welcome to the summer update. Looking ahead there is some good news; the slow three person lift at Shiligarnika is being replaced with a fast six pack lift. Looks to me like a sign that a new gondola is in advanced stages of planning. More on this rumour soon.'

Personally I think the replacement of this lift is great news, it's probably one id rarely use unless they make it that bit higher up that you can cut around that side path to the blues ...

Personally I think the replacement of this lift is great news, it's probably one id rarely use unless they make it that bit higher up that you can cut around that side path to the blues at the top, so we'll have to see. But will definitely take the pressure of queues from the other chairlift there and the one that bit further down. Shame no news still on anything happening with the old chairlift and ski run the other side, or any new ski runs at all, but ah well.. With the snow cannons and hopefully a great season weather wise, always have a good time, bring on 2016! Smile

re:Bansko Shiligarnika Lift Replacement

Upgrading lifts when they are causing backlogs queues is good and moving the volume of people to different areas quicker so that the same runs don't get ruined too quickly.

I wonder when we will see any new run? Will it be within 10 years??
How long does it take to make a new run in Virgin mountain after planning is past? Is it years or just between a season?

Or shouldn't the real question be what does Bansko skiing need? They are getting FIS there often which gives advertisement but closes lots of the mountain down for a large % of the season - is it really worth the costs and also impacting tourists who might not return for limited piste with FIS on.

Building a new setup in Dobreniste will cost a lot to set up then more people costs to run it plus you'd need transport links flowing between Bansko and Dobriniste so that you really could do both areas in the same day.

What about the opening and tiny run which exists near Pirin Golf way? Is that going to be expanded?

Is there the budget to do any of this? As I understand it's Greek banks Pareaus who are big shareholders!???? If. That's correct we all know the difficulty Greece is in so can assume zero further investment from that owner and likely sell of their holdings. to

New runs are on the cards, but the tree huggers, keep getting their knickers in a twist and stop the forward thinking we all want.

Money and time, new runs could be done inbetween the season easily .

We shall see what happens after local elections etc and after this season.

The slow 3 man lift being replaced is a great idea too

The new 6man will go to same place as it did. It will definitely be open for this winter.

Heard some more cannons have been put in but this is not confirmed.
