well im in bg right now and i think some of your coments are so far fetched about prices gone up a bit but not that much only 3/4 levs for a beer ohhhhhhhhhhhhh have a good day xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi just think we have to put ourselves in these guys shoes they have less than 4 monthes to make a living for the rest of the year. We take so much for granted in our country that we don't relise that not so long ago this was an eastern block country. So when you have to pay that extra 40p for a beer just think would you whinge in the UK if Weatherspoons but up that pint!
But Jules... neither in Bulgaria nor Wetherspoons do the bar staff/ waiters get ANY money from a price hike, that's where tips come in. Only greedy owners get the money and bar staff miss out coz customers feel they are being ripped off.
Also most of the staff and returant/bar owners work and own places in the summer resorts..Bills in BG have not gone up,so why the price hike? it's some not all but some greedy owners, taking advantage of the fact they are in europe...
In their position I would probably do the same. What they will find out is that there such things as market forces. If people do not return to Borovets then they will find out what Market forces are.
Shame I have been going there for over 3 years. Still we will find out for ourselves in March. Days to dooooo. Yippeeeee.
Hi all,
there is no need to worry. Look forward to your ski holidays in Boro!
Try to avoid overpriced restaurants, mind the empty restaurants, ask for the menu before entering, do not believe in sweet words spoken by the door men.
As SUNE said before, we are not agains earning money. We all have a family to be feeded.
Let those who try to rip off tourists find out what market forces are.
Roland
PS: We are coming again next year !!!
I was in borovets last week and found the prices had gone up a lot over the past 3 years, when I asked a bar owner why the prices had gone up so much, all he could say was thast were still cheaper than in the uk, not a very good answer. The average wage of a bulgarian is about 400 lev per month so at the prices being charged for food and drink, someone is making a lot of money, across the road from our hotel, the breza, was a small bar called the Alpina which is run by an english couple, the ...

Every cloud has a silver lining.
