Borovets has lost its direction completely.

It had it perfectly in its cheap and cheerful mode which worked well I thought.

I think it is trying to change its identity in the wrong order. Super Borovets is mentioned and for some reason, the people behind it all, think that it is a green light to increase charges as they please. Maybe they should give people something new before they increase the prices.

We all know there are a few last stands for cheap prices but it certainly wont be long before these are forced out.
The plain fact of the matter is that they are overcharging and people are unhappy.
No real idea of the consequences will be known until next year when people come to re-book.

Will be interesting though.

I have voted with my feet and will only pay for a half days ski pass + parking. I begrudge to buy anything else there anymore.

Each to their own, maybe its me getting tight in my old age!

Oh btw, most of the traders will get their beer for 67 stotinkis a bottle. Remember that when you pay 4 lvs for it.

I still think that Borovets provides value for money .... at the moment.

The main issue is that if prices continue to climb year on year then that value for money will be eroded to the point where the difference is so marginal that other resorts will be considered for holidays.

I for one am grateful that Borovets has enabled me to introduce my young family to an activity that they have all taken to and enjoy. There is no way that they will ever go without a skiing holiday from now on!

But If the difference in cost between Boro and other reorts is so small I might as well let us all enjoy exploring other parts of the world. It would do them the world of good to extend their horizons.

This is a subject that will run and run because Borovets is still a top place for a good ski and beer, but Lisa they have gone overboard on the increase of food and beer and it now on the same price level as the Uk. You know how much i love Borovets but there are places out there taking the English for a ride. Having drunk in the Alpina and spoke to the owners who are charging 1 Lev in happy hour and under 2 Lev other times and still making a profit there words, other bars are charging between 3-6 levs and hotels are even dearier. The last 4 years i have been this resort and told everyone how good it is including yourself and Paul this was the first time i heard people moaning about the prices of food and beer i just hope they take a good look at the bars who are quiet including the happy duck which i always say how good it is in there and realise they cant charge want they want and expect us just to return year after year. If you look at my comments you will only find positive comments. I will still go next year because there is a certain magic about the place and any one going this year have fun like i always do

I totally agree with you. Nevertheless we had our best winter holidays ever.Surely not due to the prices. It is no question of returning back next year or not (and surely we will)but we will be much more careful with spending money on each bar or restaurant. I will take the choice and not the owners who want me more or less intense to come in. Indeed there are still enough alternatives to enjoy your meals and drinks for normal prices. So its up to us to to make them think if there is something wrong with their business.

Try out hotel and restaurant Popangelov. He( Pepi) is a former skichampion and runs his small and cozy hotel in a modest way. The meals and drinks are delicious and normally-priced. Send him some greetings from Reppin.This is our family name and he always cally us by this name, I dont know why.Pepi usually is our host but this year we decided on our holidays too late and therefore stayed in the Ela. So if you just look for a nice bar, try out the lobby of the ELa-hotel: nice warm with an open fireplace and good
drinks for normal price.
