re: Borovets, watch your prices

having been to Boro last year and going again in Feb this year, we tried SOLL in Austria last week..... Cost of holiday the same, cost of food and beer the same as Boro to. Slightly concerning really. And I have to say the skiing and amount of it available beat Boro by miles..... Although we Love Boro we hope this next trip we're not going to feel restricted...fingers crossed.
One thing I will say about Boro though is that if you're wanting to learn to ski/board then it is the cheapest ...

re: Borovets, watch your prices

Well guys, the prices in Bulgaria, I mean in the whole country have been raised up to 25 - 30 % for last 9 months, especially food and drinks. So, there is the same tendency in resorts. But if we're talking about prices...somebody mentioned above that a pizza costs 15 levs. Well I ate pizza in London two weeks ago for £15 - so I paid around 3 times more - 2.75 times if I want to be precise

Blimey, where were you eating Pumpkin?! I was in Boro over new year and I never saw pizza as expensive as 20 lev, not that I'm disputing it exists. I paid 15 lev at the top of the gondola for a mediocre one, and the same price in the Black Cat restaurant at the bottom but it was a million times nicer. I don't think I paid more than 8 lev for a hot choc with brandy anywhere.

Overall I found it a very cheap week, but then I've not boarded anywhere other than Bulgaria.

It was 20 levs at top of gondola, down slope to the place just before the fast button lifts, where the ambulance sits.
I have been led to believe that the ski instuctors get a commission and free meal for taking thier group to these places and the same if they take their group out in the evenings. We went to Frankos paid around 22levs for a really nice meal (Instructor got his free).

Yes, exactly the same in pamps for new year, shocked at how much spending money needed!

In Pamps last week and found a big increase in prices from last year-6 levs for hot choc at mid station, only 2 levs at bottom, also had to eat at certain restuarants on the mountain that the instructors were told to take us to or they got into trouble with the ski school. Spent loads more than anticipated!

the instructors do not get free food everywhere if you decide to go somwhere and the instructor says no this will be one of the places they cant eat for free these places are found out at the beginning ofthe season and if the place says no to free food they are frozen out best place we found ovwer new year was pizza napoli cheap and not busy our instructor would not come with us

re: Borovets, watch your prices

Indeed the instructors don't earn much so a little lunch goes a long way,for the the sake of £5..
