i agree the only reason the prices have gone up is because we all go to the bar order drinks food etc and then say wow this is really cheap!come on wake up its still not that expensive its just some people expect somthing for nothing.People in boro and the rest of bulgaria have familys to feed and bills to pay aswell as people from england.

It's not about how much things cost or if we can afford them, it has more to do with value for money, if people don't feel they're getting good value then they'll vote with their feet and go somewhere else. Sure we all know that the locals have to feed the family at home but as someone mentioned earlier it'll be a case of a few getting rich quick and the real workers still struggling..

In the main, I would agree, I think people do not worry as much about what they are spending when on holiday and Im guessing that most of them that are there can afford it.
There must be some, however, that find it more of a stretch than others and suddenly finding yourself in a situation where you have the bad news of poor exchange rates and then finding out when you arrive that the prices in resort have gone up by 20% to 25% could make the holiday more of a struggle than you were ...

I agree, Bulgarians do have a right to earn a living but Im not sure that the Bulgarians that we see (the waiters, bar staff etc) are the ones who are deriving benifit from the increased prices. I did wonder how much price fixing went on in the resort and who was paying for those big shiny Mercs, BMWs and Audis, any guesses? The average Bulgarian that we talked to wasnt all excited about how much extra money they were earning compared to last year, instead they were talking about the extra opportunity that joining the EEC had provided them with. i.e. Not something that they benifited from now but something they could take advantage of in the future.

We were lucky, we spent freely because we could, we supported the Alpina Bar happily because of its fight against premium prices (and they are dam fine hosts) and we tipped the Bulgarians well where we saw fit.

Whats to be annoyed out with a post such as this? Its informative and allows others to make informed decisions about where and how they spend their hard earned wedge.

Sorry, just my view Very Happy

Im glad I didnt get out of the same side of the bed that lizaloveit did this morning Very Happy I think a lot of people on here, like me go to BG because it was affordable and maybe like me our income can only stretch to a ski holiday if the cost is good. I dont think the attitude of "if you dont like it dont go" is no help at all. What if you booked it last year on the strengh of the very reasonable prices only to find the price increase will cripple you when you get there. I would love to have a ...

Saying that, there is still places in Boro which are still good value. Alpina probably the best and fine hosts aswell. So everyone going should still be able to enjoy themselves even at a price that they can afford without putting a strain on there budget.

Have a great holiday. Boro will still put a big grin on your face. Happy skiing Very Happy
