Borovets Firsttimers

Dear all,

After visiting Pamporovo and Bansko in the past, my two friends and me will be visiting Borovets from 16 - 23 Jan 2016. I am an intermediate skier and two others are beginners (first and 2nd timer). I was looking at the slopes and I am quite worried as almost an entire area is marked red. Can anyone advise me how tough those reds are? I booked the two beginners into Hunters ski school. Will they be able to throughly enjoy the experience or will they be restricted to just 1-2 ...

We will be staying in hotel Lion, which looks nice from the pictures. I would also appreciate any recommendation for a good place to eat/drink/'socialise.

Many thanks for all your help

re:Borovets Firsttimers

Hi Luke I am veteran of approx. 13 visits to Borovets. I really would not worry about the number of reds on the piste map. Your friends will have plenty of runs to ski on and you will find Hunters a very good school to use. I have used them for a few years. I can't comment on the Lion as I've never stayed there but for a place to meet, drink and eat many of us go to Bobbys Bar which you will be able to find in Facebook as Bobby Kas Borovets (Bobbys Bar Borovets) although there are plenty of ...

hi. Have been going to borovets for more years than I can remember. 20 plus visits or so. You will find plenty of skiing and skiing with hunters even the beginners will be tackling some of the lesser reds by the end of the week. do call in to bobbys bar and let them know you have posted on the forum and you will be made very welcome. you will also meet many friends in there. If you keep your eye on this forum you will see lots of information and banter from the invasion group and others so ...

Hi Luke

Welcome to the forum. As per other replies, you have nothing to worry about at beginner to intermediate level in Boro. You will find slopes at your level on the lower slopes and at the top reached by the gondola. Loads of regulars going this coming season (2 of which you have heard from already). Just watch Dbut as he will more than likely offer you a very nice tasting but lethal shot if you meet him lol. On a serious note we have a Facebook group set up this year for all the ...

re:Borovets Firsttimers

Hey Del Boy,

Many thanks for all the info and your help. It seems that loads of people choose Borovets over the other two resorts and keep coming back. We will defo visit Bobby's bar on our first day (we are arriving early enuf at around 2pm). I can't wait now!!! Hopefully there will be enough snow; I usually come to Bulgaria in late February as I heard conditions can be patchy earlier in the season.

P.S. Regarding tasty and lethal shot from Dbut - I am well up for a challenge Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
