Borovets Ski Hire

Morning, there's 20 of us from Ipswich descending on Borovets from the 24/2 - 1/3 for a stag do and are going to just pay for the lifts and hire out there as we cant guarantee we will be skiing all day every day for obvious reasons.

from memory there's plenty of shacks that hire out gear on the day and was wondering if that's changed or whether its worth pre booking?

Also it looks like the snow is back on its way! is there enough to open all of the slopes as last year a fair few were ...

re:Borovets Ski Hire

If you are not sure when you will be skiing it is not worth booking in advance. You are in Borovets the week after Half Term so it should not be too busy.
There are plenty of places to hire skis but like all things you tend to get what you pay for.
We tend to recommend Hunters Ski School or Snowmasters but it is a free choice and there are plenty of other places.

You can hire day by day, it will cost a little bit more than booking for a week but not really very much more, same with the lift passes there is a saving, for example a three day pass costs 150 Leva and three separate days 165 Leva, but you only have to miss one day and you have ended up paying a lot more.
Also if you are going to be out on the town into the early hours you probably will not want to ski early and then the other option is to do the night skiing from 6.00 to 10.00 at night which can be really good as all the slopes are freshly bashed after the days skiing.
As to the terminology when you hire your skis, so as not to upset anybody, you might want to think of it as a Ski Depot rather than a shack?

re:Borovets Ski Hire

Thanks Gerry and Sandra and yeah we will not refer to them as shacks Smile

I know you can do half day skiing for 4 hours so I think your right and worst case scenario we will only pay a few more £'s if we do manage to ski all day every day. whats the average cost for ski's boots and poles from one of the ski depots?

re:Borovets Ski Hire

Hi James, you will be able to hire skis, boots, poles and a helmet for no more than 10GBP per day.
You are right about the half days, you can do mornings or afternoons and the night skiing.
So you have options to fit in with the stag do.
I recon you will enjoy it. Booze

Hunters and Snowmasters are good. Also you can try Yanakiev there is %off in the OTP Apres ski bar if you hire from them. Stag, Beers, Ski...perfect match...Enjoy
