I'm saying this only once....

It is snowing, i'm not talking about light snow, i'm talking about big fat snow, that is laying at a rate of around 4cm an hour.... in our village Surprised I'm talking about mayhem on the roads, this unpredicted heavy fall catching the ploughs napping, more than 20cm on the Predel pass fell in 2 hours later this afternoon, reports from those returning from the mountain talk of knee deep snow and white out conditions on piste......

Nah, i'm lying..... there is no snow, green fields, sunshine ...

Nah, i'm lying..... there is no snow, green fields, sunshine..... so everybody cancel their holidays, stay home in the rain cos it will be much more fun, definitely don't come to Bulgaria... if you are still intent on skiing, you could go to Northern Austria where a friend of mine has just contacted me, not much snow but the weather is lovely Very Happy
Again, please don't come to Bulgaria, we will try to survive somehow Wink hehehehehe

Unfortunately for a lot of people this year the snow was late in coming, but now it's with you I hope you enjoy it!!

That's all well and good, and I am glad that snow has arrived - but this is March!

Sarcastically saying "stay at home, we have great snow conditions in Bulgaria (now)" is rather taking the p**s considering the previous 3 months of pathetic conditions (as far as Borovets is concerned anyway).

Taking the p**s ?????.... ah well, was not my intention, just trying to lighten the mood now the snow has finally arrived.. has not been a good season overall definitely even now the snow has arrived, and more forecast for the next 3 days Very Happy As for enjoying it ? better for the guests we bring from the airport everyday, better for us not having to explain what runs are closed, apologising for the weather etc.... i will say though March has been historically good for snow, but normally would ...

Lets look at the positives, especially regarding Boro, perhaps this season has identified more than any other the need for increased investment in snow cannons, and hopefully this will be taken on board by Borosport...

Glad you have had at least some good snow. Agree with what you say about Borovets. I have never heard so many regulars saying they will be watching what investment is going in before booking or recommending it to anyone for next year.

Pleased you have at least had enough to open some more runs up for those coming out late!
Too late for us unfortunatley! Sad

It's not just Bulgaria that has had a bad season with lack of snow. My sister lives in Austria and the same is happening there Sad

Andie,

re Austria I think it depends where you go. I just got back from Nassfeld. The conditions were the best I have seen anywhere. They have recorded the most snow in the last 100 years! A few weeks ago they had to close the slopes because of too much snow!. 1.6m in one night. 30cm last Friday. The season there has been pretty amazing

Glad to see the snow has arrived in Boro. I have to say though whilst many are whooping for joy and rightly so I feel very sorry for the majority who ...

re: I'm saying this only once....

It has not been a classic season anywhere, for all that some may tell you.. it started poorly, a friend trashing a set of skis in Tignes at Christmas because of poor cover, it picked up slightly end of Jan, Italy getting good falls as well as Andorra, but central Europe was very patchy.. things improved slowly, but not generally, even those areas reporting snow were well down on average snowfall... Bulgaria has suffered, with maybe as low as 10% of average snowfall, this recent snow is not ...

Bulgaria has suffered, with maybe as low as 10% of average snowfall, this recent snow is not exceptional, depths range from 40cm to 60cm of fall in the last couple of days.. we may get as much as 90cm eventually, but this is not exceptional either, i have seen 1.6m fall in 12 hours....
Generally those guests that we have been returning to the airport have been very supportive of my favourite operator, their work on the mountain has to be congratulated to maintain as good conditions as were possible...
It is weather, fickle, unpredictable and bound to change at any time... but i do think the seasons seem to be getting later, especially here in BG.. a thought perhaps for the future ?

re: I'm saying this only once....

I agree that Bulgaria has had a poor season. At the beginning of the year I also went to Morillon In France, two weeks later my Brother in Law and his wife went to Morzine. I have to say the conditions there were also tip top. My experience of the very small amount of Europe that I have Skid this year has been great.

I had to cancel Boro with a heavy heart but to be honest I am glad I did. As in my earlier post though glad to see snow has arrived.
