It's that time of year to say thank you

I would like to start by saying a big thank you
To all that helped me with the aid that all of us sent to Chepelare Bulgaria.
Some of us on this site will remember, some will not.
I have been contacted by 1 of the children that we helped.
This child just wanted to say Thank you all and we all still remember and thank you all for your love and help.
You are always in our hearts
From Me, I thank you all.
I am trying to send another container over next year so if anyone wants to help ...

re:It's that time of year to say thank you

Well,
As I can see there is not 1 person on this site that remembers all the time and effort that the old site members have done for the children of Chepelare.
This has made the team and I a bit hacked off......

So go to Bulgaria and have a great time, Talk about the snow and hotels
Let the old site members help the children. As they have always done
Hope you all enjoy your time in Bulgaria and be safe

Sorry, I didn't dislike your message, my tablet occasionally clicks and does this as I open up the post.
If you are setting up to send more help, what in particular are you after.
Yours
John

Hi Andrew,

I remember well the effort many people put in.

I was involved and took part in raising money too. I was there for the ski-a-thong event.

We never really heard alot of information about what was happening once most things had been collected etc etc. One thing we did hear was that the Orphange in Stoikite which we were involved in was shut down not long after and that the money raised had disappeared.

I live in Bulgaria now but in Bansko and have been over to Pamporovo and the area many times biking etc

on the bulgarian news it was reported that our charity event was a load of british drunk people raising money money for the children etc. This did upset many people as alot did sooo much work towards this.

Do you have any pictures or anything that can remind people of the good work that was done.

Well Andrew, that sends a message that will motivate everyone into a frenzy of activity... Members from the old board are very few now, a lot of us got involved back then, and frankly ended up a bit disillusioned with the whole thing, especially after the incident in Stoikite.... If you are continuing (and it sounds like you are), good luck to you, the need is there no denying, but the means to further your aims will not be met with messages like the above.... The board now is frequented mainly by a new batch, try a more motivational message, be more precise in your needs, and lets see what the result is..........

I was also around then (albeit not involved) and heard of many stories / bad press etc which is no way is aimed at you Andrew, however I am in total agreement with Nightmuffy & Steve C that of course those members who were involved have every right to feel a bit ''hacked off'', the same as you and your team.

I also agree with Steve C on his second point, in fact I was just about to post but he beat me to it. In addition, this website is called Bulgariaski - people come on here looking for ...

I also agree with Steve C on his second point, in fact I was just about to post but he beat me to it. In addition, this website is called Bulgariaski - people come on here looking for advice & information about their forthcoming holidays which aids them in choosing Bulgaria as their holiday destination. I am not so sure they should be berated simply because they have no idea what you are talking about or because they want to come and enjoy their holiday in the snow! I would say if you are trying to raise more awareness or do something else in the future you are going totally the wrong way about it. Did every member who helped get yearly updates via email etc, have they been kept informed with what the money is being spent on and the new initiatives each year? I have checked back through your posts and it would appear not, maybe you have done it privately to all involved so how do you then expect people on the forum to understand with a once-a-year post?

I also live in Bulgaria and whilst I may not have given any money to your cause, we do pass on all old clothes to the Samokov Orphange, we employ locals, which ultimately helps their ''children'' and we put money back into the economy - I resent the fact that you think because we are not involved in your cause, we do nothing to help.

Regards

Kas

Hi Nightmuffy.
I apologise for my last post.
I was out of order to say things like that on this site.
I am trying hard to get things moving, but as always as 2 doors close 1 opens.
If you would like to see what we done with the first container please have a look at youtube.
And look for.

This document is held in the mayor's office in Chepelare and can be seen by anyone that wants to look at it
The same for the 2nd.
I have photos if you want to see them.
Also you can get a copy of the videos from the BBC as 1of their reporter's Mr John Marshal from Swindon came with us.

On a better note and a very good note.

I am in talks with company directors of a very large national company within the U.K.
To get the running, maintenance and operational costs of lifts at Chepelare ski resort paid for for next season.
If I can accomplish this ,this will keep the lifts going and keep the the skiers going to Chepelare for winter 2016/2017.
I am sorry again for my last post, but as you can see I am trying
Thanks .
Merry Christmas.
Andy

We even had national TV coverage. The money raised was somewhere around £20,000 and we were assured that it had been spent helping Bulgarian orphans. Whether it was or not is difficult to prove as the main trustee of the money seems to have vanished. I sincerely hope it was - but to this day it's still very much a mystery.

Hi Pete.
What you and your team done for the children of all the orhanages was out standing.
But what happened to the cash that you raised is a mystery.
Who ever took this money should be taken to court and all of their assets frozen.
Then allof the cash should be returned to you

As you know, ALL of what our team raised went to the children.
It is all documented.
We NEVER sent cash.
Only goods and clothing.
I hope that you and your team get the money back.

All the best ...
