Just returned from Boro

Hi All,

Returned from Boro yesterday and this is my honest view of conditions if it helps anybody.

Basically the resort is now in dior need of snow all over and temperatures are still in the low to mid-teens at base level. All runs to the left of the resort “sitn 1, martinovi 1 etc etc are open, not including cherveno black run which is a field!

Skiing here is very poor with large areas of mud on the runs and very slushy brown snow. To be honest as we left we all felt the runs should be closed as there were a number of accidents as people hit mud patches resulting in instant STOP from high speeds! If you are a beginner looking to learn then you should be fine as there was still plenty of slush outside the Rila etc but more than this and you may be disappointed.

Up top was much of the same but the mud was now replaced by ice on the one run that was open (marku 1). The ski way to the chair lift was particularly bad with large stones appearing all over and large mud patches starting to form. Snow boarders should be particularly careful as a member of our group trashed his bored here from all of the stones.
In fairness to the resort Yastr 3 and Popan both skied well with a good snow covering and only a small amount of ice.

In summary the resort is now based around two runs that are good, everything else is poor at best! If there is not a huge dump of snow then i have to say it will be a long week for any skiers of medium to high standard. Unfortunately, i also noted that the cue for the gondola as we left was huge as everybody heads for the good slopes that remain which will in turn only lead to them also becoming very cut up and busy.

As for borovets itself, it’s still the lovely, charming place it always is and it’s just such a shame that the snow is not there to back up the resort.

Hope this helps…as I said, it’s only my honest opinion so don’t shoot me down please.

Cheers
Andy

Oh dear. Thanks for the update,we are due to come out on the 14th but may well cancel if things do not improve. Sounds like it is all a bit of a write off for this year.

re:Just returned from Boro

People can only ask for an honest review - thanks for the update.

Might be worth people thinking about hiring rather than taking their own kit soon!

Soon!!??
Probably better to be thinking of going somewhere with snow - you know, to ski!
