Pamporovo 14 Feb

Hi all. We're off to Pamporovo next Saturday and really looking forward to it. We are a family of 4 (1 x intermediate, 1 x adult beginner and 2 x child beginners). Anyone else heading there like us next week? This is our first time to the resort. We've been keeping an eye on the snow reports and keeping our fingers crossed the snow will still be good for us. We are staying at The Castle. Is anyone else staying there?

Castle is a nice place to stay ,we stayed there last year. Can be a bit isolated from pamps centre but Gloria Mar do a free shuttle if you want to eat there, also the chenove2 and the Belfry do free shuttles. Negotiate taxi price before setting off if you get one and we did not pay more than 10 leva from castle to pamps centre plus a little tip and they will always look for you again!

Hi Tim,
Welcome to the board and thanks for joining in the discussions.
You'll find loads of good, sound and honest advice on here from people who share the same love for skiing/boarding as you do.
Some advice and tips from me, and these are very much my own personal do's and don'ts and favourites.

Bulgarian people are amongst the most friendly you will meet anywhere in the world. However, like every country there are those
who seek to exploit others and will try and con you if they can. So tip one is NEVER change any money with a stranger, no matter what
fantastic rate they offer you. You will almost certainly be given worthless old notes in exchange that will not be accepted anywhere. Instead
change your money at hotel receptions or use the cash machines which will give you a very decent rate. If you are approached just politely say
'no thanks' and walk away.

For eating on the slopes you'll find nowhere better than Peter's Bar which can be found on your right at the mid station area. Fabulous food with a smile
and at very reasonable prices. You'll find many a Pamporovo veteran eating in there which is testament to the food and service.

If you want to have a late night knees up at all then head for Daks Bar which you'll find behind the Perelik Hotel. Music through the night and into the morning.

Lots more I could tell you - but it's great fun to explore for yourself. You will just love the place, of that I have no doubt.
