Pamporovo Snow History

It really is becoming a crazy year for Pamporovo and especially this month of March.
This year will be my 24th year in Pamps and in that time I cannot remember such a
low snowfall and such high temps throughout this month and the forecast do not give
me any real hope of seeing any marked improvement for the foreseeable future.
Of course forecasts are just that - and very often they can be completely wrong and

Of course forecasts are just that - and very often they can be completely wrong and
have been many many times since I began coming here in 1992, so I still have my fingers x'd
that all will be well for our visit on 12th March.

For the record, here are the snow depths for March over the past 4 years.

2012/13 upper slopes 146cm - lower slopes 106cm
2013/14 upper slopes 87cm - lower slopes 56cm
2014/15 upper slopes 155cm - lower slopes 128cm
2015/16 to date upper slopes 30cm - lower slopes 20cm

And with the current temps staying well above -2 it's not possible for the cannons to be switched on,
as they will not produce snow unless the temps are between -2 and -10.

Ah well, now I have completely depressed you it's time I made a phone call to the snow gods and get
them to pull their fingers out.

Snow has now been ordered and the delivery should start later tonight.

re:Pamporovo Snow History

Great post Pete although all rather depressing. I'm due to head out on the 11th with a friend (he's never been there but has heard me banging on about how good it is over the last 10 years or so) but am considering heading elsewhere and taking a hit on the flight cost.

The charts actually look quite positive for a decent fall of snow tomorrow so fingers crossed we get a nice surprise. If we can get say, 20cm, and the piste bashers do their stuff then things might just be OK. There is ...

There is also quite a lot of uncertainly about the following weekend when we head out there so if things go our way there could be more snow from the 10th.

Here's hoping!

Hello Pete,

Let me Teller you just this...
This Morning, I'm sure the Winter in Borovez is over and spring is coming.
After some serious snowing läßt night and on the afternoon the snow is back and it looks like a Winter resort.

If next week is no good snow in Pamps lets meet you for a drink, the first round is my one
