What about Bracknell? Big outdoor slope

Also Woodley in Reading has an indoor ski dome.

If your in Swindon both are barely an hours drive door to door away.

re:Swindon Snow Dome

There are currently over 8 proposed new indoor slopes in the uk , due to low investment, non will be built . It cost a few million and the rest ,plus running costs. The more that are built , will water down who goes to where to ski or Snowboard , even when they get full planning, the people with the ££££££ have a change of heart .

There was more chance of labour winning with a majority in Scotland than these new domes being built in the next 5 years

Interesting to see it is planet ice - makes you wonder if they are pulling out of a Cardiff slope?

Given the real estate and unique investment/operational kit you need + the size & scale it does make you wonder if many of these wonderful ideas actually make any financial sense (from a return on investment perspective).

Really it needs to be a council/public sector driven leisure investment for the benefit of the community at large. But as popular as winter sports appear online the reality is that for the UK its a miniscule sport with very little interest (sadly), Tis could be because ...

Really it needs to be a council/public sector driven leisure investment for the benefit of the community at large. But as popular as winter sports appear online the reality is that for the UK its a miniscule sport with very little interest (sadly), Tis could be because it has a high cost to entry & is still a relatively new sport - or actually one that you cannot "do" in the UK.

Golf is another high cost to enter sport all the start off kit but then its not too bad and you can play year round anywhere in the UK.
Where I work many do go skiing and multiple times a year but there is a huge number who wouldn't even dream of a winter cold holiday instead wanting beach sun cocktails and a bronze tan.

But its a great exercise - sadly where the slopes would work well (North Wales) its such a ong drive to get there again its not viable. One I used to go to as a child was Trawsfynydd dry ski slope huge outdoor venue. However 15-20 years later I visited it again - nothing there all closed down and returned to wildlife.

I know what you mean... You only need to look at Sheffield & how that has been left to rot.
Yea, its outdoors & a carpet - but it looked a lot more fun than a straight 150m-200m slope.
