Borovets seems to get better snow later in the season. We did that January week in 2014 and it was very poor (but good enough for us complete beginners).

If you're comfortable with the snowplough and know how to sidestep and walk in skis then the week 2 would be fine. We went in March this year and did that class, moving on from an okay snowplough to controlled parallel turns and red runs by the Friday. My confidence went right up and I can't wait to go back.

Because of our experience in 2014 I would wait until a couple of weeks before I go before booking. Some of the Bulgaria regulars here might be able to advise better!

Hi Jean
All of the Three main resorts, Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo have good artificial snow cover on many slopes and particularly on the beginners slopes so I don't think you should be concerned about skiing in January. You will have a great time I am sure. I would book the beginners group unless you have already learnt controlled snow plough tuns in which case I would book an improves package. Lots of great places to stay but I'll let someone else advise there as my knowledge is all ...

Beginning of January was great in 2015 and if you look at the snowfall history its always skiable to some degree. We will be there for most of the season so we share your hopes for snow . Real snow is a bit different to dry slopes in many ways easier so if you have mastered the basic turns you should make progress quickly . Personally I wouldn't over face myself with a group simply because struggling to keep up takes the fun out of it . The quickest way to make progress is a one to ...

Personally I wouldn't over face myself with a group simply because struggling to keep up takes the fun out of it . The quickest way to make progress is a one to one ( or two) lesson , there's a lot of choice of ski schools and all have there merits and are reasonably priced . Snow Masters would be my pick , for 1-1 N
