re: Mobile Phone Coverage

It trips onto one of the Bulgarian Networks so coverage is fine but you pay a huge roaming fee to pick up calls. Last year in one week my company phone bill was the second largest in the company. There are over 3,000 employees with mobiles and most of the calls were roaming charges when the girlfriend was calling me. Mind you she didn't half go on a bit!!

I'm on virgin and used my mobile for texts between a group of us out there & to keep in touch with uk. Cost 35p each text & worked fine. As Greg has said you are directed onto a Bulgarian network. Definitely worth taking with you as long as you don't lose it!!. Also nice having it on the slopes if you had to call for help (hopefully not!!)

There should be a internet cafe where your going and they normally have telephone booth's where you pay the bill after the call. Call duration is continually displayed, the cost is about 1 Lev (40 pence) per minute. Much cheaper than using a mobile. There is one in Pamporovo so there must be one in Boverets seeing as its larger.

One year I was at the top of Markoudjika, Borovets it was -22c. My phone was ringing but I could not answer it, as the keypad was frozen!

re: Mobile Phone Coverage

txt on orange 40p each. £1.10 (i think) per minute, billed as first minute whole, then subsequent minutes billed in 30 sec increments - if that makes sense. (If its not £1.10, then its £1.60 - was a few weeks ago I confirmed it with orange and cant quite remember).

Coverage in Pamps last year was absolutely fine.

ps, don't forget you also pay overseas charges for calls coming into your phone from home!

re: Mobile Phone Coverage

If you are on PAYG, make sure your phone is unlocked & buy a local SIM card, It will save you bundles, what a lot of bods dont relaise is that you get whacked big time for incoming calls & text messages Crying

re: Mobile Phone Coverage

hey, just a bit of friendly advice.... make sure you turn your voice mail off before leaving, this is due to the fact you'll be charged three times (£3.60) for any messages left! Thats got to be the equivilent of a good night out in borovets!!!
