Pamporovo - Any thoughts??

I am looking at Pamporovo for this next season 06/07. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of the resort over Bansko?? Bansko just seems a bit manic with all the new developments! Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Bansko I feel is being over developed to ther point of being spoiled but the skiing /boarding is way mre varied than Pamporovo> The hotels in Bansko are generally close to the slopes apart from the Katarino, but Pamporovo you would need to get a bus from all but the Markony Both resorts are really good and you won't be disappointed with either

the buses are frequent and if you had to get a taxi its only 12 lev (just in case you have too much the night before and miss the buses )
I have only been to Bansko for a few days so cannot really comment on the difference in resort, I think the ski runs in Pamps are not as difficult as Bansko, you do not seem to get pushing and shoving to get on the ski lifts in Pamps like you do in Bansko - so maybe its much better organised in areas.....

think it depends on the time of the year, I was in pamps at christmas very busy a lot of pushing getting onto the slopes, was in Bansko in march was relatively quiet realy except the first weeekend which was a local bank holiday, on a personal note I prefere Bansko lot more of a ski area and more challenging runs, also as it is a town and not just a ski resort we found it cheaper than pamps. The runs in pamps are very limited and if you can ski well you could get board.

This is a tricky disision but i always choose pamporovo over bansko. If you an advanced skier and enjoy different chanllenges then basko is right for you but Pamporovo has a couple of advanced slopes to. Also the news on this site informs us of 5 new pistes and lifts in the Pamporovo resort which will increase the variation of runs here. But if you want the best Night life then Bansko is the place 4 u

Thanks for the responses folks!! I think it may be Bansko from what you say, I snowboard and enjoy riding a variety of slopes. Is there a park (or any plans) in either Bankso or Pamoporvo?

there are a lot of off pieste for boards in bansko and when we were their in march the snow was realy good, there is a half pipe, hope this helps

Thanks! I think Bansko it is then! I am guessing in with the preparation for the olympics lots of money will be invested further into developing to slopes and the facilities. Thanks for all the advice.
