Delboy's Report

Well I have finally made it back to work and after reading all my email I thought it was time to post my report from Papms

Well after the last few years in Pamps I think that this will have been my last for some time. The resort is on the change and until they can increase the skiing area this will be a bad thing.

Pamps for me is now far to busy for the lifts to cope with and until they invest in newer and faster lifts this is going to be a problem, I can only agree with Pete’s report ...

Well after the last few years in Pamps I think that this will have been my last for some time. The resort is on the change and until they can increase the skiing area this will be a bad thing.

Pamps for me is now far to busy for the lifts to cope with and until they invest in newer and faster lifts this is going to be a problem, I can only agree with Pete’s report that Boarding/Skiing for 20mins followed by long queues and a long ride to the top is not as much fun. Also we had a number of times when the closed the 3 man lift this made the 1 man lift a nightmare.

As for the restaurants on the mountain I found that they had all increased in cost especially brothers restaurant which had more than doubled in price over the last 12 months, not a good thing, still cheaper than anywhere else in the world but not by much anymore.

Away from the mountain I found that the people were not as friendly as in the previous years and that the resort had lost some of the friendly charm that I have got used to.

But I must say there was some good points, The SNOW was the best that I have seen in Bulgaria ever the powder on the top of the mountain was unreal and for all the lucky people going in the next couple of week and am sure you will love the snow.

I would also like to say a big thank you to the snow shack team for all there help over the week, Ted & Gary thanks very much.

I hope that my report has not put any one off as I am sure you will have a great time but for me I think I will be visiting the USA for the next couple of years then who knows…………maybe a Pamps return

re: Delboy's Report

Hi Delboy,

I got a bit of stick from my report, mainly from people who have not had the experience of the resort as we have.

It has changed without doubt. I still enjoyed it as I'm sure you did, but my big concern is for the future as the resort is in danger of suffication unless major work and investment is injected.

Can't see us returning next year, but that is due to several reasons...... will try again in 2007 but I have major concerns as to the resorts future, v VFM and skiing ...

re: Delboy's Report

That's it then. Sounds like the verdict on Pamporovo is clear. Non doubt there will be investment in the future, but until then it is not worth for people like you to persist going there for the sake of good memories. Try another resort next year and wait. Wink

Delboy

Aren't you living in US at the moment?

If you had to fly to BG as well from there that must have made it a rather expensive holiday.

We have been looking into other destinations for next year mainly because we don't know anything other than Borovets and so our opinions are rather biased. Simon also feels he'd like to try somewhere different.

The accommodation costs even in France are competitive compared to half term in BG, which is when we have to go. The main killer for the other European resorts is the lift pass, ski school and equipment hire which are generally 3 times the price of Borovets.

Any way let you know what we decide.

Sorry to hear that you are that disillusioned Pete after so many years. Will you still go to SB in the summer?
