re: >>MESSAGE FOR BEGINERS<<

Dan : I posted this message because this happened to me on a red run !
In Borovets now all the beginers take the cabin lift after 1 days and they go down in 3 hours, by groups...

Then there would be lots of 'their slopes better than ours' arguments

My god that is really bad. I would sh*t myself on a red and I have skied before! You have to admire there courage though.

re: >>MESSAGE FOR BEGINERS<<

We just got back from Pamporovo on Sunday and I have to say that the situation is a bit problematic since the green run is basically a road having a width of about 5 meters at the widest spots. If you have a group of beginners in front of you, you just cannot overtake. You can go into blue runs but they usually cross the green at some point. I do agree that it is the responsibility of the uphill skier to overtake safely. What you have to keep in mind though is that some people think they ...
What you have to keep in mind though is that some people think they are better than they actually are and get them selves in tough situations. On the other hand a safe overtaking is a relative term, if you are an expert you might think it is safe to cross someones path just one meter infront of them where if you re a beginner and someone crosses that close to you you might panic and fall.
I just think you have to respect the rest of the people on the slopes. From what I have seen it is mostly the locals (not only in Bulgaria but in Greece and in France as well) that do not respect the tourists and even have a bit of fun scaring them at times...
Take care and ski safely.

Captain - I think that was me. If we are all honest, I think we all recognise the manouver. Was that before or after your ""coffee"" break????

re: >>MESSAGE FOR BEGINERS<<

That could not be your fault captain as this would never have happened to you eh? Good advise guys I am taking 3 Learners out with me in March(go help me I say!) I shall be sure to let them know the rules. But could we not make all the beginners wear great big L's on their backs? Then we could spot the little sods from halfway up the slope and take avoiding action!
