BOROVETS 12TH DEC

Morning,

It snowed up the top again last night - very fine, but a few more cm can only be good news!!

It has stopped again now, but it is expected to snow again later at the very top - Bobby will call the guys later and we'll let you know if there's any more snow to report!

re: BOROVETS 12TH DEC

It is now snowing here in Samokov and in the resort as well as up top, albeit lightly.

Snow cannons are also on on both sets of slopes.

hi,

thank you very much for the updates. Me and a few mates are heading over to borovets on thursday late eve and was just wondering if you could shed some light on a few things..

Firstly, do you reckon on friday the 17th, we should

hi,

thank you very much for the updates. Me and a few mates are heading over to borovets on thursday late eve and was just wondering if you could shed some light on a few things..

Firstly, do you reckon on friday the 17th, we should
travel to bansko to have a days skiing there, as boro does not open until the sat? Do you know how easy it is to travel there etc?

Secondly, the weather reports over here suggest that after saturday the cold spell is going to disappear, and temperatures are going to head back between 2-10 degrees...Obviously you can not trust weather reports all the time, but i was just wondering if you knew the forecast from over there?

It also said on the saturday its might have 45-60 kmh winds...do you know at what speed they stop people going up the gondolas etc due to safety?

Thank you for the help already, it has already put us at a lot more ease!!

re: BOROVETS 12TH DEC

Hi Pep,

In terms of Bansko, Nightmuffy / Steve C do transfers from there to Borovets, so although it is 'the other way round' they will best be able to help you in terms of what sort of costs / time you are looking at. They should also be able to advise of whether it is worth it or not in terms of what the snow is like there as if there's not much, it may not be worth your time / money going over.

The local forecast here has said it is going to warm up slightly next weekend, but ...

The local forecast here has said it is going to warm up slightly next weekend, but that's down here in Samokov, rather than up the mountain. I don't really read the forcast sites as it can be so different on the websites compared to what it is really like and can vary so much from the bottom to the top of the resort hence I just post what it is like 'real-time'. So...I am not much help on this question either - sorry!!

Bobby is just on the phone to the guy that runs the top station now and will get back to you on the wind question...!

re: BOROVETS 12TH DEC

Ok - in answer to the 'wind question'...

When the wind reaches 15metres per second it automatically raises a 'horn alarm' (don't ask me how!!) on the gondola. The operators will then stop 'new' people from going on the lift, but they will continue to operate it until all the people already on it get off.

I think 15mpersecond is equivalent to approx 54kmhour but don't hold me to that...!!

re: BOROVETS 12TH DEC

thanks for the quick reply, very helpful! i will try and keep up to date with your real time reports then!!

just one final question, if the temperature does rise, what do you think the implications will be? if there is no more snow, do you think we will still get a weeks worth of skiing in?

thanks very much for all your help!

Kas just like last year you are a true star!!! Borosport should be thinking of taking you on!!! You do a much better marketing job than they do. Good luck with the business. We hope to come out in february, we have a chalet at the new chamkoria complex just out of town. looking forward to staying there, we will hopefully see you at the new restaurant when we are there.
