Borovets - Conditions Update - DEC 16th

Morning All,

The good news or the bad...! For once, there is no bad, apart from we got to bed at 4am and are totally shattered.

The good news (which is much more interesting) is that last night there was 11cm of new snow up the top of the gondola - it is also snowing lightly now at the top.

It is not snowing in the resort at the moment and is very misty, but cannons are working on Yastrebets and Rila runs.

re: Borovets - Conditions Update - DEC 16th

Forgot to say - when Bobby spoke to the worker at the top he said that the gondola opens TOMORROW not Saturday, albeit the official openening ceremony is still on Saturday. Someone posted before about arriving tonight and what to do tomorrow, so if you want to you will be able to use the gondola tomoz!

Now snowing more heavily in resort and uptop. We are out for a bit, but we get an update call in the afternoon, so I will post with any news then.

More great news! Am a bit worried when I look at the 6 day forecast on Snow-forecast website as it predicts the temperature is due to rise to 5 degrees c by tuesday! Lets hope that they get it wrong. Thanks once again, Jim.

hi kas,

thanks for your daily updates!1

we are currently at luton airport delayed. excited to hear the slopes open tomorrow, is that for definate yet?

we were just wondering what your recommendation was for ski passes for borovets. We have seen them on the internet for around £150 (and could buy them now), are they cheaper to buy direct from the ski school? with the 150, ski hire, pass, and lessons were included for 6 days...

thanks

pep

Hi Pep,

Things change constantly here, but the operators said today that the gondola would work tomorrow as would the nursery lifts on the rila slopes - we will know in the morning if it comes to fruition!! We are going up top at 8am, so will report back then!

That is a cheap price and partly because over the weekend, the passes are 50% cheaper for the opening. At the weekends, they are already cheaper than the week, so it means on Saturday and Sunday, it is just 18lev per day and it ...

That is a cheap price and partly because over the weekend, the passes are 50% cheaper for the opening. At the weekends, they are already cheaper than the week, so it means on Saturday and Sunday, it is just 18lev per day and it includes night skiing - usually it is 35lev per day plus 18lev for just the night skiing...

I am not sure of your holiday dates, but you may be better getting the weekend passes day by day and then a 3 day pass to cover Mon, Tue, Wed if you are not skiing on the Thursday? You could then get ski pack and lessons for 6 days - it's up to you really!

See you soon!
