we find that it is best to travel in your ski jacket instead of packing it. you will wear it on the slopes and out at night so why not on the plane!. i find that under my ski jacket when on the slopes i only need to wear a t-shirt and i am plenty warm enough, i have a silly hat rolled up and in my pocket for when the temperature drops. i just wear my ski trousers with nothing under them but my undies, however, my wofe has three tops on under her jacket, but all thin base layers. and she has socks, tights, thermal leggings and then her trousers on!. she is nesh though and doesnt like the cold. i only wear sun glasses and have never had a problem, but the others are right when they say lip balm and sun protector for the face. i burnt my forehead earlier this year and i work outdoors all year so thought i would be pretty much ok. some hotels are very very warm so maybe a pair of shorts for dossing round in might help. your boots and ski's and poles will all be fitted out on the first morning after your welcome meeting which tends to be about 10'ish in a bar. then it is just non stop laughing for the week..... classes can be so much fun!. you will make lots of friends too.
I was a first timer this time last year and had all the same questions and found this board FAB!! . We are off again soon we caught the bug. I went with endless layers under my ski jacket and trousers thinking it must be cold but eneded up feeling like I was going to melt. It uses a lot of energy to keep picking yourself up and you seriously get boiling hot. Have fun you will have a great time. How old are your kids and where are you off to?
