21st - 28th December

Hi all, newbie here.

I am due to fly out to Bulgaria and ski in Borovets during the Christmas week. I am slightly concerned that there will be lack of snow. Can anyone confirm that normally the snow is ok during this time?

Thanks

Hi Chris Welcome to the forum.

To be honest I wouldn't generally choose Borovets so early in the season myself, HOWEVER take a look at the piste map and you can see which slopes are covered with snow making machines. Looking at the Webcams they have done really well this year and seem to have got a lot of artificial snow down nice and early. Hopefully the low temps will continue and this base will stay / develop a bit more. Next weekend the resort opens and there should be some feedback ...
Hi Chris Welcome to the forum.

Next weekend the resort opens and there should be some feedback on real conditions (thank you to Kas and Bobby in advance
Very Happy)

So long as it stays cold I think you will be OK - a decent downfall and the whole resort should be open. Good luck and I'm sorry if the webcams become addictive !!

Two year ago it was cracking, but that was an exception, you will be able to ski, just hope that thee is some more snow fall on the top or else it will get crowded on the Rila side where the snow making is working.
Having said that, it does look ok on the web cams compared to same time last year. Have a great time !!

re:21st - 28th December

We have been at Christmas and New Year about 5 times now and have had really good snow, patchy conditions and warm weather - you never can tell! But as Tom says, they do seem to have got their act together this year and have got a decent base down so keep up the forum tradition of naked snow dancing and perhaps we will all be lucky!! Wink
See you at Christmas!

Hi Andrew
Keep watching this forum and once the season kicks off next week, Kas usually provides daily updates onJ the local conditions - invasions permitting of course!
