33 Hour Delay

Dont wish to put any one off going to Borovets , which is actually one of the greatest places on earth, but it would be interesting to hear if there is anybody else out there who is going back this year after the 33 hour delay at Sofia last January.We had to unload our luggage from the aircraft oursleves as the airport closed , and were put up in a freezing Hotel in Sofia for the day that we were delayed.I love Bulgaria , Borovets and the people but that was one night I would like to forget ...

Yes, I was delayed then. The cause was sudden severe weather which closed the airport, ands was nobody's fault. I also experienced long delays at Barcelona Airport for the same reason last year.
I don't remember the hotel being cold, but it certainly had a Soviet era feel about it, which I found at least interesting. I hopped on a tram and spent the day in Sofia, wandering around which I found a delightful experience, and one which was definitely a bonus, an extra day to explore Sofia ...

Me too! I was held up & ended up clubbing in Sofia and thoroughly enjoyed the 'extra' night.Bring on the delays!

Can't be delayed coming back as have appointment on the Sunday as well as work. As will have 2 teenagers with me who meant to be seeing their father on the Sun would be nightmare as will all be my fault lol Off tomorrow morning and just about to pack .re: 33 Hour Delay
Its the old problem again - "please let it snow loads", but not when I need to get back to Sophia and on that bluddy plane!Was stuck in it myself last year, but then these things happen - could have been so much worse - a few people lost their lives in a traffic accident heading to the ski resorts as the weather was that bad!
