A fine holiday

Hello all,
Well the holiday got off to a grand start, when as I was putting the cases in the back of the car, the tailgate dropped on top of my head !!. Just what ineeded was another scar !.

anyway, skip forward a bit,

bit of a delay at plovdiv airport, some sort of "technical' problem, nothing to worry about though. We were soon in our room in the Murgavets hotel. VERY VERY nice. We didn't get here until about 2 am though, so after a drink, we only had about four hours kip before ...
Hello all,
Well the holiday got off to a grand start, when as I was putting the cases in the back of the car, the tailgate dropped on top of my head !!. Just what ineeded was another scar !.

anyway, skip forward a bit,

bit of a delay at plovdiv airport, some sort of "technical' problem, nothing to worry about though. We were soon in our room in the Murgavets hotel. VERY VERY nice. We didn't get here until about 2 am though, so after a drink, we only had about four hours kip before rising for the usual scrum for lift passes etc etc. we jumped on the bus with no problem, incidentally, that is the only thing we can fault about this resort, and were soon in the Malina ski area. Now it's usually a bit mad when everyone is waiting for skis, fittings, lift passes etc etc. We were lucky in that we have got our own kit, and only needed to pick up our lift passes. This is done by exchanging the voucher you are given at the cash office (there is a 6 lev deposit for the new passes). We dived over to the Markony ski school, and arranged to leave our kit there for the week. Next thing to do? hit the slopes!.
Mrs Banknote tried on her brand new skis, and was amazed how fast they were, and promptly fell over. this knocked her confidence a bit, but a LARGE brandy chocolate restored it, and we jumped straight on the single chair lift (never, ever had to queue for this), and did the green straight away. After a couple of goes, we decided to make our way to the top, and have a look what was up there. The view is stunning!. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip back down, and spent the day alternating between skiing, and trying to find the cheapest brandy chocolate.
Then the madness..................the coaches!!!!........if nothing else, it's a laugh! so disorganised it's funny. It makes for some good introductions to people you wouldn't normally get the chance to talk to (you have to be friendly when you're holding someones hand, and you're not sure if it's your wife, or someone elses !).
Dinner time in the Murgavets, just going to the bland lukewarm food isn't it?.........WRONG !!!!!! the food here is absolutley wonderfull. we have been amazed at the choice, and quality, we cannot recommend it highly enough.
After a lovely meal, we decided to wander off, and have a drink. As we were wandering, we noticed the very fine snow falling outside. It was very fine powder, and we didn't think too much of it. Got to the ski area in the morning, and it had dropped about 5 inches of really fine powder snow.....Excellent !!. The piste bashers pushed it about a bit, and the snow cannons had been working on the icy bits, an excellent days skiing.
Yesterday we decided to split up, and do our own thing. Mrs banknote hit the green from the top again, and I tried the red/blue. I can only describe how I feel, but I'm reassured Mrs Banknote feels the same, have you ever been in a car crash, or motorcycle accident?.....I have, and thats how I feel this morning. I took about six spills, some of them fast, and on ice............I ACHE!!!!!!!!!
We are having the day off, as we could barely get off the bed this morning (cue mutch laughter about this is how we'll be when we're old farts).
Hitting the slopes tomorrow, regardless of whether it snows or not. We could do with some snow (when don't we want it?), but skiing is possible on all runs, just look out for the grey bits.
Pamporovo is an excellent resort, in fact Mrs Banknote said what I had been thinking, in that we prefer it over Borovets. There are loads of reasons, which we can go over later.

Post more when we get back.

Phil, Lisa

Can't wait - packing up boxes in the office as we are moving rooms this weekend and found a Borovets Piste Map - printed out in colour with all the new runs.

Probably going to blow the wad in BJ's tonight, but somehow I think we'll have trouble spending it.
we've turned up trumps with the the people we've left our ski's with. When we told them were back on the 22nd, they said 'leave your skis and boots here if you want to". Nice one, no need to lug them back to blighty, only to have to do it all again in a few weeks. As a bonus, we get to bring them back some stuff they are missing, beans, HP sauce etc etc.
Regards all,
Phil
