hi all. i've been offered the chance to go to alaska by a mate who has a 6 bed house out there. just wondering what you lot think about the idea as i have never been skiing anywhere apart from bulgaria. all i would have to pay for is the flight and ski pass.
my hubby has been in there winter time and there summer time down side in there winter hardly ever gets light and in there summer hardly ever gets dark, realy screws up your boby clock, have never heard of skiing there dog sledging yes but skiing no, will ask him when he gets back if he know what the skiing is like.
hubby has said he cant remeber seeing any ski resorts, but skiing in the winter would be unbarable due to the cold a lot colder than canada, plus days are very shory depending on where you are some areas only 1 hour of day light, if you look at norway it would be simlar hours of skiing as there possibly 2 to 4 hours a day, summer time would be warmer and day light for almost 24 hours. also very isolated as limited population, not somewhere he would recommend on the weather and daylight front.
Friends live there -amazing downhill and cross country skiing - even deeper snow dumps than Whistler this year. Bears wandering about in Anchorage parks and ice fishing by early November. Depending on where you go, it can be similar daylight to southern England - Juneau, to Southern Norway - Anchorage to flipping Arctic oop North. Fairbanks has the highest temperature range from +20 ish in summer to -30 ish in winter.I would go
