Just rerad a post on a none ski forum and the guy is ranting and raving about it, cheap as chips -
Got back today from my trip, had an amazing time. Went with a mate and stayed in a 5 * hotel in the south. It was minus 6 when we arrived and one night went down to minus 26. Not that we noticed as the beer jackets worked their magic and at 90p a pint they were good jackets !

Tried snow boarding and skied a few times ( ski hire is £2.50 an hour ) and ate out in some great resteraunts. Aushwitz will stay with me forever, took five hours to look round and felt a vast range of emotions. It instills rage, sadness, despair, shame, admiration and humility in equal measure. There were some pictures that will stay in my mind forever and some of the ehxhibits were mind boggling in size.
I will go back in the summer to see whats its like with no snow as I havent had such a laugh for years. Took a cable car to the top of a mountain and the wind chill was minus 48 and its true, it does freeze before it hits the ground
Went to Zakopane last year for a week - it was cheap as chips !
Sking wasn't the best, the runs are quite short and there's only one ancient cable car system that gets absolutely jam packed. Great place for beginners. Saying that there was plenty of snow there when the rest of Europe was a bit dodgy.
Ski and board hire was cheap as well as accomodation, beer and food ... and the Polish love their ski jumping !
Just come back from Latvia, snowboarding, we were going to head to Poland but got great conditions in Latvia, small resorts, very well groomed and really fantastic people, much better atmosphere and way better music on the slopes than Bulgaria, we will return to the newer places, think maybe Bulgaria has had it's day compared to the up and coming countries, Poland and Russia are on the list.
i wouldnt say it was cheap as chips because the price of chips have dramatically risen over the past 12 months...bit like the price of food and beverages in bulgaria.
Cheers for the feedback guys - you're certainly giving me alternative ideas for a VFM break this year - my wallet is extremely thin so I need to explore leftfield options.

Went last year to Zakopane (flew easyjet yo Krakow) private transfer by owners of pension (Foxhill lodge guest house), and its British owned. Great nitelife especially at the weekend, skiing ok for beginners or intermediates, each slope has an individual pricing system, but the passes are dirt cheap and its cheap to hire equipment. Also spent a few days in Slovakia at Jasna and donovaly ski resorts, just over the border from Poland. Fab
