What do people suggest about cash in Bulgaria? Ie do I bring some Sterling/Euros and change as/when, or stick to debit cards and ATM's? (in Borovets next week)

We have been advised to take some lev and sterling but not Euros. No credit cards but switch ok.

theres an ATM at the perelik hotel at the little shopping center bit. arent bulgaria chaging to euro in january anyway ???
